I have a LG LHB336 DVD player and I want top add WiFi capability.
Apparently there is a device called a dongle that looks like a jump drive that will accomplish this. Now for my question... Are all dongles created the same..?? Is a LG dongle necessary or is there a generic equivalent..??? thx TD who is learning about dongles |

Occasionally stone mfgrs software will only work with certain devices. To be safe I would call and get a hardware comparability list from the mfgr. I know that my new wireless Canon printer requires a proprietary Bluetooth dongle to receive pics via Bluetooth. Which is a load of crap since I have two generic BT dongles that will work with anything but this printer. Oh, and if you see a Canon printer that advertises "Print from mobile" be aware that this only applies to iPhones, iPads, and iPods. The software comes from Apple. Other mobile device need to got through Bluetooth and you have to buy the ding dong. ETA: To its credit, it rocks as a WiFi printer, easy to connect and I can move it anytime I want, anywhere in the house. And print from either laptop anywhere I can get a signal from the router (I've printed from a tent in the yard). [/hijack] |

This will work but I'm not sure what price range you're looking at. http://www.amazon.com/NETGEAR-WNCE2001-Universal-Internet-Adapter/dp/B007CO5DZ4/ref=pd_cp_e_0
Nice thing about this is if you have a multi-port switch you can add multiple devices and use this as the access point. |

This is probably a better option for streaming online video as far as ease of use if they haven't sold out yet.
refurbished Roku 2 XD for $59.99

Am I reading this wrong? It looks like it has a rj45 port???
http://www.lg.com/us/home-theater-systems/lg-LHB336-home-theater-system LAN Port (RJ-45) 1 http://images.highspeedbackbone.net/SkuImages/gallery/large/L47-7044-05.jpg From here: http://www.tigerdirect.com/applications/SearchTools/item-details.asp?EdpNo=555073&CatId=5675 Why not get a wifi bridge and connect it like that? That way you can have the bridge there for any other devices as well? |

This sale pushed me over too. I don't even have a decent TV for it right now because my Sony blu-ray player streams the stuff I watch on the big LCD TV.. For now it's going on a 27" Samsung CRT television for my kid. One of the great things about it is that it does Amazon Prime video streaming. We watch stuff from there a lot. |

The reason I wanted it was because you can attach an external hdd that you can rip movies too. Buddy has it for his kids and he had ask the Disney movies on it so the kids aren't messing with the DVDs.
That and Pandora its supposed to be much faster than one on our BD player. |
