Anyone shot on the range or, hunted there before?

Great place if you ask me but, I never see many people on the range.
I plan on going hog hunting there and, would like to know about experiences others have had hunting public land(safety, success, etc...).

I was just over there last week. I prefer shooting out there because I like having the range to myself(who doesn't?) but it's a long drive to Richland from my place, so I don't make it over there nearly as much as I'd like.

I've never hunted the WMAs before, but hunting at Chickasawhatchee WMA has been known as the last resort for a lot of local hunters here for as long as I can remember due to the dumbasses that hunt out there. It used to be common to have people take blind shots at you or stroll up to within a few yards of your spot and sit down with a rifle to smoke a few cigarettes and drink some beer.

I've never hunted there but have used their range quite a bit. It's 45 minutes or so from Columbus and the only place within a couple hours that goes past 100 yards. I've always said that for a "free" public range, it's as nice as they come. The last few times I was there I had the pleasure of sharing the range with a couple of idiots. I guess that balances out the 10 good trips I had.

Overall, I like it but it's not the most convenient.

I haven't been shooting in awhile, but Hannahatchee is where I prefer to go.  You are right though.  It ain't close to anywhere.

Still not that bad.  I've got family scattered all throughout that area

When my youngest son was working in Columbus, I had built an M4 for him, and Hannahatchee is where we met to do some shooting.  Nice place.  It's a little over an hour from where I live.

I was hoping hunting the off season for hogs that I wouldn't see many people out in the woods.

Hannahatchee is by far the nicest "free" range I have ever been to and, well worth the drive.
