I started working on getting the bumper installed last year at Thanksgiving ... and just finished today.

There was a whole laundry list of issues to fix / figure out, and with the crappy winter weather (not enough room to work inside the garage) it has taken me to now to get them sorted out.  Now, we are good to go with full armor (skid plates & sliders), bumper w/winch, MT/Rs, and assorted bug out/camping goodies.

I also have a good set of busted knuckles, bruises in all kinds of crazy locations, and a head full of sandy, gritty hair.

Yes. Until this weekend, every weekend since Nov has been cold and/or rainy and/or booked. Every time I had a free weekend, the weather sucked balls.

I worked on the truck this past weekend and finished today.

Shrockworks. Toughest available for the Xterra, but a hell of a wait (mine took ~5 months).

Kennessaw Mountain Accessories, or whatever they're called now, could've made you that bumper cheaper and probably faster.

Does that radio have a clock on It? If so then it is not emp proof.

That's why I said not counting the radio.....

But a radio is but required to run a vehicle either.

Yeah if you're one of the lucky ones they actually make a bumper for and not rip you off.  Of course I don't know all of the full stories, and innerweb chatter is always suspect, but I've heard entirely too many bad things about them to even bother.  And some place that's changing it's name constantly is worrisome.

They have a horrible reputation in the community, and even recent feedback (after a name change and staff changes) indicates problems with fitment.

We = me and my family.

If I had a dedicated BOL, I would have a back up EMP resistant BOV.  This is really our camping/wheeling vehicle, but in the event of a non-EMP emergency this would get us to my parents place better than any of our other vehicles.

Are you going to upgrade the suspension? The bumpers & skid armor add some serious weight to it.

Looking good!

My BOV will probably be a Pinzgauer when I can swing it financially.

I hear ya! I just like the look of the old vehicles and the fact they are EMP proof is just an added bonus, not that I think it necessary!

I have a 79 cherokee chief for my family toy vehicle. Of course I still have the YJ for fun!

Is Kyle still at Kennesaw mtn? I remember him starting it out of his garage. Good guy but was unable to keep up with demand and quality skipped. So did his attitude.

Yes - I'm looking to do a 3" suspension lift including a new leaf pack.  I figure it will come in around $2500 assuming I do the install.

We've got a number of big budget items for this year, like a safe, SBR+supressor, possibly a new AC unit, etc. so I'm trying to be judicious with our discretionary funds.

I don't know the guys at KMA (now TAG), but I remember the name Kyle.  I think he may be one of the ones let go in the name swap.

I wouldn't mind an old Cherokee or Bronco, but for normal weekend outings I want reliability and comfort for the family.

Are you implying that my cherokee its but reliable or comfortable????

:-)

I have a 4BTa diesel engine planned for it. Also currently replacing all the interior with leather! The new roof will include an SBR pocket near the sun visors too! One benefit of old big vehicles!!!!
