I have a lead on a f/a STEN with mags it was passed down in the family by a grandfather who was a vet and I can only guess that it is a possible bring back.
I have not gone to see it because of the nature of the weapon and its legal issues. If this is a true f/a/STEN from ww1 / ww2 era what would it be worth ? They are asking 4,500

The only thing that is throwing me off is they said the mag can be rotated to feed from the left or right side...

Depends on the condition and if they have paperwork from bringing it back from the war.  I don't think you can get guns registered no matter what the age since the NFA acts cutoff period for registration is long gone.

If it is a WWII bring back and it wasn't registered during the amnesty, it's contraband.

I am not interested but one of my in laws is I told them all the NFA details. I told them yes it my be something neat to have but it may be one of those things that you need to let go on by.

I am by no means an expert on Stens, I would post your question on UZITALK.com there is a sten/sterling forum.. In addition there is a yahoo group on stens..

I am not sure about the rotating magwell.  I have a Sten MKII with MK V upgrades and they do not do that, nor does the MK III.
For a transferable sten $4500 seems a bit high, but this is based on the market being composed of Aftermarket tubes, on Kits.
The things you need to know are:
What type of Sten? MK II, III, V?
C&R? Tube Gun?
Is it legal?

I love my sten, it is really a piece of history.. Uber controllable, slow rate of fire, cheap mags (when they work) and historical relevance.

I would like to go and take a look at it but I do not know the people who have it. I dont even know if they can even own a gun if you know what I mean

If they can send you pix, that would be great.... especially of the tube... I have a Wilson Tube and they are marked where you can not see the Serial Number when the trigger guard is on...

Ask to see the NFA paperwork first.  If they dont have it then the gun is worth $250,000 and up to 10 years in jail.

You may want to call the NFA branch and ask if the serial number is in the registry.  If it is not then I would not even want to be in the presence of it.

Sounds good I will call and get them to give me any and all numbers on the gun. I will repost to when I find something out.

If it is a bring back even a letter from his commanding officer will get it registered . No paper and it is a $200 pile of parts .  It would be a WW2 gun.  if it is a dewat that is a separate issue.  paper is everything .
