A friend is looking into ordering a Sturdy Safe but they will only deliver to a garage. From there it'll need to go down an incline and about 150ft into a side basement door. It'll be 700-1000 Lbs. I don't mind paying a pro with the right equipment. I figure David's gun room or another safe dealer would do it, but be a little resentful that we didn't get there safe.

Anybody know a local company that handles that for a fee?

Dang't....there's some people local that do it but I don't have one of their cards at the moment.

Let me ask...

There are a good amount of safe companies that have additonal options for delivery.  They will do curb side delivery, or for additional money you can get "White Glove" service and have them move it into your house for you.  I had that done for my safe as I cannot manage a 700 pound safe myself.  See if you can find a place that offers an upgraded delivery.

Or look at some moving companies like Two men and a truck, as they move refrigorator, safes, etc all the time.

There is a person that advertises on craigslist atlanta. Don't know if they are good or bad. 150 feet of uneven soft terrain will not be easy

125 feet of it is concrete. Only the last 25 is pinestraw/grass

Thanks for the ideas.

thesafemovers.com in Lawrenceville moved the safe into our shop- very good service on very short notice.

If you are in the atlanta area I saw a flyer for a couple guys that do it at True wilderness / survival store / kudzu tactical (not sure what to call it). I think those guys frequent here so maybe they could give you the number.

David did mine (bought from him) but it sounded like they also did Bass Pro deliveries or had at one time so you may just want to call and ask.  They put down heavy plywood and used a pallet jack and I had soft ground/incline like you do. He took it slow and easy and got it in my basement with no problem.

My gun safe weighs around 750#.  I move it pretty easily, using an appliance dolly.  Unless you're going up stairs, it's not that big a deal.

+1.  They were great folks.  Our main box weighs over 1200# and these guys did it quickly, safely and for a reasonable fee.  They'll get my business again.
