Fellas,
I might have to ship a gun and I just wanted to make sure I got all the regs and precesses down: I have to declare it to UPS. It has to be next day air. Has to go to an FFL for transfer. Is there anything else, specifically how can I check an FFL and how do I go about declaring it to UPS? |

Long guns can go ground, handguns must go next day. You are only allowed to ship firearms at UPS Customer Counters (not UPS stores or drop boxes) or directly with the pickup driver if you have a UPS account. In terms of declaration, I just told the counter clerk that I was shipping a firearm and that's all they wanted to know. I would not mark the box with anything to suggest there is a firearm enclosed.
You can verify the FFL address with the first 3 and last 5 digits of the FFL number. If the recipient has a copy of the destination FFL to give you, all the better but I wouldn't consider it a deal breaker as some FFLs prefer to guard that information closely. Oh, it is also a good idea to enclose a piece of paper with the purchaser's information and a copy of your DL for the FFL. It also wouldn't hurt to call the FFL and ask if they need any other information. FFL Check |

I usually package my stuff, print label, then drop off at UPS Store cuz theres one right down the road. Is that kosher? Or would I have to schedule a pickup? |
