To my understanding, so long as you aren't within 40 yds (or something around that) of a public roadway and are not shooting towards a public roadway you can shoot on any private property... Just be safe and smart, and use common sense I suppose. I'd wait to shoot until you can ascertain the ordinances on shooting though... Cmshoot on the HTF here may be able to help you out a lot better than I could, and there are quite a few guys on the force that are regular posters here.

no

you cant shoot anywhere in cobb county unless its a range. period.

lived here all my life and family had acreage next to kennesaw mt. growing up used to shoot there all the time. but they passed a law some years back. is interesting because there are tons of deer in certain parts of the county. you can hunt them legally in season (and perhaps on your private property year round) with a bow, but not with a firearm.

As long as you follow Cobb ordinances and Georgia state law the answer is yes you can fire a gun on your own property (or someone else's property with their permission) in unincorporated Cobb County.

The applicable county ordinance is:

Sec. 86-5. - Weapons discharge.
(a) It shall be unlawful for any person to discharge a firearm, air rifle, pellet gun, slingshot, crossbow or other similar device into or over property belonging to another person or entity without first obtaining written permission from that person or entity.
(b) In addition to the penalty provided for in section 86-1, if the person charged with violating this ordinance is a minor, it will be within the discretion of the officer issuing the citation to issue a warning. If this is done, a duplicate of the warning will be sent to the minor's parents or legal guardian by certified mail.
(c) The provisions of this section shall not apply to:
  (1) Persons who discharge one of these devices in defense of person or property;
  (2) Law enforcement officers in the performance of official duties;
  (3) Military forces of this state or the United States in the performance of official duties.

The applicable state laws are:

O.C.G.A. § 16-11-103 - Discharge of gun or pistol near public highway or street
A person is guilty of a misdemeanor when, without legal justification, he discharges a gun or pistol on or within 50 yards of a public highway or street.

O.C.G.A. § 16-11-104 - Discharge of firearms on property of another
(a) It shall be unlawful for any person to fire or discharge a firearm on the property of another person, firm, or corporation without having first obtained permission from the owner or lessee of the property. This Code section shall not apply to:
  (1) Persons who fire or discharge a firearm in defense of person or property; and
  (2) Law enforcement officers.
(b) Any person who violates subsection (a) of this Code section is guilty of a misdemeanor.

i may be wrong about what i posted above. i think though the hunting thing came up once with a LEO and the discussion was about someone that was hunting deer, off season in cobb. the LEO said you could not discharge a firearm anywhere in cobb other than a range. now when i go search, i find that thats true in Marietta (didnt check other cities and it includes bb guns) but its a city ordinance out outside the city it depends on your neighbors.

searched municode to find this

small game hunting is legal in Cobb County on private property

Are you talking about just discharge or hunting?  I have already posted the state and county laws about discharge which make no mention of caliber or weapons type.  If you are talking about hunting then someone else will have to look that up: http://www.eregulations.com/georgia/hunting/pageflip.

No idea, I just heard from a good friend who has 40 acres in Cobb and is a buddy of the SO. Those may have been rules granted specifically to him, I have no idea. Personally I like to shoot in Adairsville and Fairmount, if the lawman shows up there its because he wants to play too.
