It's hard to really comprehend what a tornado can do till you see the devastation in person.

Spalding County Ga.

These were all taken within 4 miles of my house. Some were taken less than a mile away.

GB, my P/T job with the ambulance company in Fayette had us out backing up your county through the duration of your counties storm response, was hoping that I would not see any fellow HTF members while out there, your right on the damage and it just breaks your heart to see the families deal with the injuries and property damage.

Hopes and prayers to all involved during these trying times!

Pics 8-11 are from my Family's former farm.
I used to live across the road from the the brick house with the small red barn to the left of it.
Behind that barn by about a 100 yards is a house that only the floor system is left. There were 30-36" oak  pine & trees twisted off about 8' up along the fence row to the right of that house.
I used to feed cattle and slop hogs on that farm 15 years ago

GB did you get down to Patterson or New Salem and see any of that? Devastating
eta if you live  that close we are probably neighbors

I live 4 miles from there as well. its hard to tell with all the destruction but was any of the pics from cheatham rd by chance?
I barely recognize the congressional holiness building it that pic.
My family and I came through the tornado that hit there on our way back from Macon if it wasn't for being in a big heavy F250 diesel
we would have been tossed in the ditch by the wind. It was eerie as hell to have to drive down hwy 16 at 1:45-2:00 am dodging down power lines
trees in the road and parts of peoples homes. we passed a family out in their driveway looking back at what was left of their house with the fire dept
and that was awful for me. I have never really felt genuinely sad for folks in that situation until I saw it in person. It was heart breaking.

Didn't see any tornados but did see this crash yesterday morning.  I think the BMW beat the acura, well nevermind they both lost!  Idiots... They make race tracks for this kind of thing.

I drove up to Dalton today from Kennesaw on I75 and between Cartersville and Adairsville there is a swath of land that was wiped out by a tornado. This was the first time that I have seen damage done by a tornado and it was utterly amazing the destructive power that it was capable of. There wasn't a tree standing for a quarter of a mile, they were all just snapped off about 10 feet up from the trunk, there was debris and tin roofing wrapped around the pieces of trees.

And a few miles down the interstate at Cartersville I saw part of a street name sign that was all twisted up that had come from that tornado. I was tempted to pull over to the side of the interstate and take some pics of the damage, but i didn't want to look like a jackass.

I live just north of Waleska and we had some bad damage about a mile from our house. All that was totally lost was a hay barn, but there was some damage to some neighbors houses and tons of trees down. I was out until 3:45 the next morning checking on people and cutting trees out of the road. I don't see how the people who worked for days straight stood it.

Was that directed to me? I didn't get to Rio, but did end up in Ringold. That completely dwarfed the damage around here.

The wife and I stopped in Ringgold on Thursday for the After the Storm benefit concert.  Before the show, we toured the town and took pictures of the damage.  Wife still has the camera, but it was amazing that months later, it's still apparent how bad it was.  They've done a really good job of rebuilding, and you can tell that roofing companies have been busy out there.
