Last year I helped my neighbor drop a few trees in his back yard. I talked to him last week about a 1911 pistol display stand and this is what he made yesterday out of the wood from the oak trees that we took down. This thing is cool as crap. At first I thought I would paint it but now I think I'll just leave it like it is.

That's pretty badass Chris. He could sell the hell out of those. [If he made them for Glock Magwells ]

Sir.......Drop the brush & can and step away from the wood.

Those are very nice stands, the raw product looks great, maybe a little stain at the most to keep the beauty of that wood visible.

As a previous poster noted, there is an audience for those at a future show booth location.

The one on the end and the one in the middle, we're still fighting over the other Kimber which is still at my friends house. he needed it to make sure they fit on the stand properly. I wasn't home when he finished so he left the stand in the car but hung on to the pistol.

Bite me Steve, I got a can of krylon around here some where.

I will have to practice some before I make an attempt at staining. I haven't done that in almost 15 years.

Looks like he compelled you to buy another pistol to fill up the stand.

Looks good, I wouldn't even stain it, couple coats of tung oil would look great on that.

ok... I'll bite.  What do you think those would sell for?

I would think walnut or cherry would look really good.

Derek, if it were for blocks glocks it would have to be made out of plastic.

I could only guess but I would have to say somewhere in the $90-100+ range. I gave $125 for the plastic AR stand I had made 4 years ago. If you were planning on building some, think about cost of the wood plus your time involved in making them.

I've been tossing the idea around about making some stands out of steel/diamond plate or aluminum...just something different.

ACP..........ya got there before me........who wants to show off a Glock!?

The stand looks great.  At most, maybe a light stain.  If ya just like the way it looks now, just hand rub some LinSpeed into it.

Shep probably wants one to show off that shiny new Beretta of his.

Thanks Shep and everyone else. The credit goes to Jay, my neighbor, for building this. I just came up with the idea so I can display the 1911's at the gun shows. I got tired of seeing then just laying on the table and wanted something a little more classy.

I think I'll try the linseed oil and see how it turns out. If it looks good I'll post some better pics.

Ask your neighbor for some of the scrap pieces and use those to try your finish on first.  Then, do the final product.

I would get rid of that USMC one asap. Or just change the grips to US Army grips.
