Guys, I'm lost. I own a Microtech knife and I'm trying to see if it's legal for me to carry attached to my pocket by the clip. I have looked at various websites that say yes you can own it, but you can't wear it.
What is Georgia law regarding this? |

I really wish Georgia would make their laws on knives and carrying them a little more clear.
An OTF auto knife is going to be considered an offensive weapon. You are going to have a hard time explaining the utility purpose of it, which leads me to believe you cannot carry it under our current law. I am not a lawyer, but there are several threads here that discuss knife carry laws. I dont see any reason why you can't own it though. Which model is it? Ive got a ultratech that i absolutely love. |

Switch blades in Georgia...Legal to own, Illegal to possess. Short and sweet. btw, I carry a Scarab daily...no clip showing. ByteTheBullet (-: What code section did you find it under? I've been wondering if they are legal to carry. GA knife laws are fubar |

I don't know that switchblades are specifically prohibited in our statute but I believe there is case law where they are said to be an offensive weapon which makes them no go for general carry. Same for butterfly knives.
I agree about ga knife laws sucking. And why they aren't covered under our CCW permit is really insane. |
