We're heading up to Chattanooga in the near future. Any suggestions on good hotels in a safe area of town? Wife and munchkins onboard. Don't need to be downtown, just ~20+/- minutes from the aquarium, etc.

We usually stay at Holiday Inn Express, Country Inns and Suites type hotels.

Chattanooga is pretty safe. If you don't mind spending a few extra dollars, the Holiday Inn - Chattanooga Choo Choo is fun. You can stay in a private train car. My kids loved it.

I have stayed there as well , downtown has a few decent places to eat a few blocks away , there is a trolley that runs, The neighborhood south of there is not the nicest , Your ccw is good in Tn.

I stayed at the Holiday Inn at Lookout Mountain a few months ago.  It's only about a 10-15 minute ride to the Aquarium from there.

We stayed at the Comfort Inn near Lookout Mountain two years ago, it was almost brand new and nice.

Three weeks ago, we stayed at the Fairfield Inn near Hamilton Place mall.  Equally nice.  It's off I-75 and Shallowford Road, exit 5.  There must have been 8 motels at this exit and the Fairfield Inn is next door to the Cracker Barrel.  It is also within 1.5 mile of Academy Sport (lots of sporting goods, hunting, fishing and GUNS).  It was a safe neighborhood, but he had the floor covered between the two rooms (me and a buddy plus 2 1911 and 2 642), he had one hallway covered and I got the other hallway.
