Some of y'all here know me, but most of y'all don't. Amongst other things, I own Precision Applications, LLC. We are a full-service Firearms Tactics/Training School, but we specialize in Sniper/Precision Rifle.
A little about me: I am a former United States Marine Corps Scout/Sniper. In addition to being a Scout/Sniper, I also served tours as a Small Arms Instructor, Marine Security Guard and Range NCOIC of the Stone Bay Pistol Range, the main and largest pistol range of Camp Lejeune, NC. I was a Jungle Patrol Leader for the Marine Barracks, Subic Bay, Republic of the Philippines and shot competitively for the 2nd Bn 8th Marines Rifle/Pistol Team. I was a Scout/Sniper Team Leader in Operation Restore Hope, Mogadishu, Somalia. I trained with American military units such as FAST Co, Marine Force Recon, ANGLICO, US Navy SEALs, and the US Army Rangers. I also trained with numerous foreign military units, including 2e Etranger 1e Compagnie of the French Foreign Legion, the British Royal Marines, Canadian Airborne, Royal Dutch Marines, Philippine Marines, Russian Naval Infantry and the ROK Marines. I hold Instructor certifications from various government and private entities for Sniper/CounterSniper/Precision Rifle, Carbine, Shotgun, Pistol, SMG, Less Lethal, Use of Force and Tactics. I have been a Sniper and Sniper Instructor for over 20 years. I am also a Remington 700 Armorer. Usually, my Precision Rifle/Sniper Classes are held on a one-on-one basis, or in small groups of 3 or less. I will be teaching a 1-day Precision Rifle class in the College Park area on December 5. Cost would be $125 per person. I will be limiting the class to 18 students. Topics covered will include (but aren't limited to): •Selection, care and maintenance of the entire system (rifle, scope, rings, mounts, ammunition, bipod, cases, etc.). This includes a comprehensive disassembly and other Armorer's tips. •Marksmanship basics •Positional shooting •Use of a mil-based or other ranging reticle for ranging unknown distance targets •Ballistics (internal, external and terminal) •Use of optics (including adjustments and all other functions) •Multiple target engagement Gear list will include: •Rifle capable of 1MOA. Bolt actions and semi-automatics are both welcome •Quality optics. The following features are mandatory on the optic: 1.Finger adjustable turrets with audible/tactile “clicks”, MOA or mil are fine 2.Ranging reticle, mil or MOA based are both acceptable •Ammunition, usually approximately 100 rounds per day. Ammunition count will vary depending on the exact courses being taught •Data book w/ calculator •Rifle-mounted bipod, or front rest •Sling •Rear bag(s) (optional) •Shooting mat (optional) •Minimum 5 “dummy” rounds (optional) •Spotting scope (optional) •Eye and ear protection •Clothes and footwear appropriate to the weather. If it rains, we train, as long as there is no thunder/lightning. •If you are military/LE, it is preferred that you use your duty gear, body armor and other ancillary equipment that you will use on duty. Train like you fight! At the end of the course, you will receive a certificate of completion. Please respond here and let me know if you will be attending. Payment is in advance to reserve your spot. If you assure me that you are in, and that the payment is enroute, I will consider your spot HELD. I'm attaching a class roster of the folks that have said they would like to attend. If you're on the roster, please IM me and let me know if you still want the spot, and how you would prefer to send payment (PayPal, cash, check or MO). Feel free to call me at (678) 523-7522 if you have any questions. Thank you and Semper Fi! |

I would have to check with my CO (aka wife) on the date (for the one day)... but I would be interested. My son is 17 and turns 18 December 20th... There are a bunch of guys on the board that can vouch for him and a safe shooter and all around good kid... can he participate?
Thanks Chris |

even though reading your resume is very intemidating and to be honest should probably scare me away from this class I would be very interested in the 1 day class.
one question, you mention a rifle and optic capable of 1 MOA. my rifle could probably do this....just not with me pulling the trigger :( and you mention alot of the equipment requirments. what are the user requirements? I need to take my rifle somewhere and let someone else shoot it to see if it's capable...... |

No one needs to be intimidated in my class. This class will be geared towards the basics and I am a very patient Instructor. I had RTS for 2 days and didn't kill him!
gajeep, you should be good to go. If the rifle is right around a minute, that's fine. You don't have to be a good shooter to attend, you just have to be a safe shooter. It's my job to improve your skills, I guarantee you'll leave the class as a more competent and knowledgeable shooter. 17 or 18 years old is fine, if you'll be there with him. The range is not open to the public, but is off Camp Creek Pkwy near Wolf Creek Trap & Skeet. |

Let me just throw another plug out there for Shep. Shep learned through a mutual friend of ours that I had just purchased a Rem 700, and he called me to tell me to join his website ( www.snipersparadise.com ). After a phone conversation, he had me out to his house to help me prep my barrel for shooting. Shortly after that, he had me out at the Fulton Co. range where he gave me a primer on shooting a "sniper rifle."
I was so green it was ridiculous. I am still pretty damn green to precision shooting, but with Shep calling my shots and showing me how to get on my rifle and how to shoot, I did pretty damn good! I credit it all to his instruction. This is from the first time I shot my Rem 700. The first time I had ever shot a preision rifle. We were dialing in the scope with Shep coaching me on how to shoot. (100 yrds)
And this is form the third time I had ever shot my rifle, with Shep calling the shots and coaching me. It was only the second time I had ever shot for groups. (100 yrds).
One of these days I will take one of his classes, and I am sure I will be able to tighten up the groups after that. |

Shep, very interested. The only problem is that I have two classes scheduled in a one month period around that time period and one more will blow my training budget for the time being.
If you offer one in the first quarter of next year or later I will be good to go. |
|
The plan will be to start at 0800hrs.
I'll go ahead and start a roster, as I will definitely be doing a 1-day Precision Rifle class on Sunday, December 5. If you're on the roster, contact me about paying to reserve your spot. I prefer for the students to pre-pay, but I'm not requiring it yet. What I will do, though, is gift first spots to folks that have paid. If the class starts to fill up, and you haven't paid me yet, you might get bumped for someone that has paid. If you tell me that you are definitely in, and the $ is on the way, that's good enough for me, I'll hold your spot. Feel free to call me at (678) 523-7522 if you have any questions about anything. |

I recommend the Comfort Inn just about 6 miles down the road. It's where I send all my out-of-state students.

Folks, don't hesitate to contact me if you have any questions about the system you'll be shooting. I've already invited one of the students to my shop to help him get his rifle ready for the class, for free. I'd rather do that than have you show up and your system craps out on you.
I have a humdinger of a "loaner" rifle if that happens, but I only have 1. |

It's an impressive resume, but he's about as laid back as you can get. Very effective instructor - is able to tailor instruction on the fly to meet the learning styles of his students. On top of that, even though he is a jarhead and looks the part of a dumb jock, he went to school on a full academic scholarship. One smart MFer. |
|
Actually........I had 5 full-ride academic scholarships out of high school: Boston College, TCU, Western Kentucky, Bob Jones University (good ol' BJU!), and I don't remember the 5th one. Went to the University of Parris Island instead. Didn't have a scholarship, but they actually paid me to attend! I had to share my room and shower with 50-something other guys, but the chow was decent (although I never finished a meal), they had someone doing my laundry for me, and I got what felt like an 8-year degree in just 13 weeks!. Graduated Magma Cum Laude of the Rifle Range, i.e., Company High Shooter. Didn't even have to wear a gown to graduation, had a snappier uniform instead. |

Quoted:
LARRYG, from Powder Springs you can shoot out Richard Sailors Pkwy to Hwy 278 (Jimmy Lee Smith Pkwy) and hang a left. You'll be there in about 20 minutes once you're on 278. They are remodeling and the house is a mess and the spare bedroom is a disaster area. I will just stay at that hotel you mentioned. I will drop by and see them that Saturday. |
|
Yeah, I don't know whats going to be more fun, shooting the match or shooting the shit with everyone staying at the hotel for the Match.
I'm sure their will be some good stories ofter the match. puddin, Quoted:
I can't shoot, I just teach! I talked to Nick Noble up at Rock Castle, said y'all put a great shindig on. |
