Can this thread get locked and / or deleted now?    Or am I the only one that remembers that last "duty gun / PD issue ammo" thread on here?

I am not complaining, because I found a way to legitimately introduce half fawn into that very same thread, but as I recall, the whole thing caused a lot of brain damage around here....

Thanks for the quick responses.  I was looking for information, not trying to cause any brain damage or deer death.

Was that the SC guy who plead opsec? That tread went super south. Could be wrong. Anyway, I think it's interesting to see what the carry is. Who is it that makes the choice for a county or city department anyway? I also remember reading threads of LEOs who carry their own choice of firearms / personal purchases.

Kinda heavy to be toting around. Believe I'd rather carry an M&P.

Look how well our forum functions when the outsiders stay outside!  It was someone screaming opsec but I had forgotten where they are from.

Glad the OP got an answer quickly!

I wrote a 4 page paper on this issue to combat the issues of US v Hayes from the prospective of the Chief....got a 90

My argument was make the new officers supply their own weapon and furnish a 4473 as well as obtain a GWL to prove they weren't in violation of the Hayes doctrine. First time my teacher (who happens to be the MAIN guy at POST and an ex-cheif) had heard about doing it this way, and liked it!

Why, you find a sidearm in the Krispy-Kreme parking lot and want to return it?

The douche was from South Carolina.

Yes it's best when outsiders stay out.

something very important if you own a gun and have ever been convicted in any state of things like simple battery.

mis. crimes of domestic violence are not defined the same way in each state, so its "hard" to determine if infact "simple battery" can fall under the Hayes issue when owning a gun...US v Hayes screwed the pooch and made gun ownership a nightmare for those "not-all-the-time" law abiding citizens.

If you've never stepped foot inside a courtroom, Hayes probbaly doesnt apply to you

However, if you have misdemeanors on your record, you might want to take a gander at Hayes...

if you have time, and want to hear some very interesting arguments, listen to the oral argument on Oyez (i think thats the site) and listen to how much grammar plays a role in law-making. we had this issue with carrying in the airports; the authors of the law mean one thing, and the courts interpret a different way
