So I get up this morning and I already know it's going to be a bad day. A short night on sleep, and now I have to take my fiance to the airport. She's going to India. For four months. Joy.
So on the way down we stop for lunch. My pay from the USAR has been jacked up, so I call to see what the issue is. My administrator pulls the record to show that he submitted the proper paperwork. In other words, there's nothing to do but wait. Great. While on the phone he asks if i'm coming to drill this weekend. 'What? Drill is next weekend.' This earns me a speech about 'actually reading' my email, as opposed to relying on the info put out at last month's drill. Good job, stupid. We also have a PT test. I haven't done more than 20 pushups since I injured my shoulder over a month ago on a jump. This outta be fun. So I then have the pleasant task of calling my work partner and telling him that instead of splitting the weekend as originally planned, he has to work almost all of it. I love being 'that guy.' I'll come in after drill, which means late nights and early mornings all weekend. Super-duper. We get to the airport, and have to wait almost an hour because my fiance's friend is stuck in traffic. I stick around until they enter security, then turn around to leave. I feel miserable. Big baby. So, in order to appease my partner, I am trying to get home to cover the last part of the afternoon shift and let him see his wife. Instead, I get to be the third car in a four-car fender-bender on 85 N. Then I have to wait an hour for Mr. Policeman to show up, and another 20 minutes for the report. I get back in time to see my partner is done with his whole shift. I am officially 'that guy' again. In order to relieve some tension and get an idea of my performance on the PT test, I go for a run. It sucked. And now I sit here, talking to the internet, because it's the best person around for me to talk to. On top of it all, I work at 6 am, so I can't even drink. |

did you read the story here of the soldier fighting oversea's that had a double amputation, yet decided he wanted to kick some more ass and went back to his unit?
if not, I highly encourage you to read it. the problems you think you have now are meager and miniscule compared to others. keep your head up, and continue to move forth. things will always get better.

I never said that my problems were worse than anyone else's, or that I was giving up on life or anything. Just had a really crappy day and felt like whining about it. |
