| I know there are threads in the archive about the Fox Theater but they are from before SB308 and mostly revolve around whether or not it was a public gathering. Now that public gathering no longer applies, has the Fox done anything to discourage carrying? Key question is do they have metal detectors now? Also, I thought I saw something in one of the posts about the law that implied "no guns" signs would start carrying the weight of law. Is this true or did I misread or someone else misinterpret the law? Thanks in advance for any help on this. |

Signs carry no legal weight. Fox is good to go. I was there a few weeks ago. No metal detectors. Didn't notice any signs either(although they could have been at the ticket counter... I didn't go there). Thanks for the info. I thought that was the case, I just wanted to be sure. Posted Via AR15.Com Mobile |

(c) Except as provided in Code Section 16-11-127.1, a license holder or person recognized under subsection (e) of Code Section 16-11-126 shall be authorized to carry a weapon as provided in Code Section 16-11-135 and in every location in this state not listed in subsection (b) of this Code section; provided, however, that private property owners or persons in legal control of property through a lease, rental agreement, licensing agreement, contract, or any other agreement to control access to such property shall have the right to forbid possession of a weapon or long gun on their property, except as provided in Code Section 16-11-135. A violation of subsection (b) of this Code section shall not create or give rise to a civil action for damages.
Part in blue literally means a person's privately owned property, not an owner/proprietor of a business? |

my wife and bgcoops girlfriend will be there tomorrow to see the phantom of the opera, glad to know my wife can carry ![]() She won't be the only one carrying. I was in Los Reyes in Kennesaw this week, and I saw they have a sign that reads "absolutely no weapons" are allowed. This carries no weight just like before? Meaning they can only ask me to leave if they detect my pistol somehow?
I, too, heard the new law gave signs some legal weight. |
| IANAL, but my understanding is that it is the same as before... private property owners have a right to "forbid possession of a weapon" by making you leave if they discover you have one. If the law does not define something as a crime and attach a penalty to it, it is legal. So until the law reads something like "A person carrying a weapon on property where the owner forbids it shall be guilty of a felony," signs do not carry the weight of law. |
