Anybody got a spare DSL modem sitting around?  Turns out that ours decided to die and of course it was out of warranty.  ATT was wanting 75 for a new one.

I've got two SpeedStream 4200's, no idea if they will work on AT&T or not

If you've been a long time DSL subscriber tell them you've never paid for one in the past and asked for it to be replaced.  Been working for me for 9 years.  I've had probably 4 or 5 replaced due to storms.

Tell them to kiss your ass and threaten to cancel. They will ship you one next day usually. Been through 2 of them.

I told them the same that comcast service was cheaper and they sent me one next day NC, but I do have an old one if you need it I think, It may not work any better than yours

Yea just tell them you are going to cable. That worked for me.

If the speedstream doesn't work for you let me know. I have 3 or 4 of them and you can have any of them. They are all from AT&T and worked when removed. Only problem is I am in marietta. Work down town ATL if that helps.

I've only been with At&t since 2008.  They offered one for $40 as opposed to 75-100.  I need one quick because of some work that I have to do before Tuesday night so I may just have to bite the bullet and go buy one locally.  I emailed a few locals from craigslist that had a modem listed but I haven't heard anything back yet.

You also can use dialup as part of your dsl agreement

It isn't fast but is a decent backup

Like I said I am in marietta (actuallyt at creekside tomorrow) if you want them. Yours free. Might be worth the drive if you need it that bad. You cab take them all and see which on works for you.

Cool.  Let me know if that falls through.  I just bought 4 AT&T compatible DSL modems from the close out rack at Wally world for $5 each.  A lot of my customers are on AT&T.

Weird.  I was just up there last week to replace a modem for a local business.  I called ya to see if you wanted to grab lunch.  I didn't leave a message as I needed to scoot.  If you end up in a bind let me know and I'll get one to you.

Past couple of weeks I haven't been able to actually sit down and take a lunch break because of my schedule.  I've just had to grab something while on the run.  Thanks for the offer though.
