Using organic LEDs, this scientist in Florida developed a way to make very thin and lightweight nightvision technology.  When released, a pair of nightvision sunglasses will weigh less than a half of a deck of cards.  It will only use 5 volts instead of needing a step up transformer, so battery life will be awesome.

The technology is so lightweight and small, that they are are planning to implement it into car windsheilds and cell phones!

Check out the article.   I can't wait for this to come out!

Just think..  No longer do we need nightvision compatible EoTechs or Aimpoints..  We will have nightvision built into them already.

It sounds affordable. I may actually own night vision. that is cool.

Yeah, when it makes it to cell phones, you know it will be affordable.  Otherwise nobody could afford to have it.   Even if it was $1500 for top of the line night vision sunglasses using this technology, it is much better than $4000 night vision that is very heavy and bulky.

If you can make nightvision in the sub $1000 range, it would take off like there was no tomorrow!

I'm sure they already have the ability to compromise NV.

Does the Taliban, etc currently have easy, cheap, and access to NV?

Russian surplus?

I don't know...just an idea.

In one of the books I wrote, I gave some of the characters "installed" night vision contact lenses on their eyes. Maybe some technology like this can actually help me explain a little bit of the fiction.
