| What makes this video even more funny is after he get his ass handed to him. The female who was taking the video stole the vets personal bag. Looks like theft of lost of mislaid property. Then continues to say "if u wana press charges i got it on video tape." Love to see someone finally get what they had coming to them. |

Ghetto youth? Pft.... That guy is not young. Not a thug. Just some washup. And I've seen this video way too many times posted here now. Well, unless dugan290's post edit included removing "ghetto youth", I don't see anyone saying that here. The guy may not be young, but the "thug" description is debatable. Looks like the old(er) guy tried to walk away and did not throw the first punch. The "washup" chose to pursue the fight and got his ass kicked for it. |

And he just doesn't fit a description of a "thug" to me. Like...what makes him that? Just looks like some dumb old guy who decided he would affirm his nonexistent manhood by messing with some other person.

Like you, I've seen it enough that I didn't copy and paste the link to watch it yet again, so I missed the title. A more appropriate title might be "Washup chooses to pursue a fight and gets his ass kicked for it." |

I don't know what the minimum criteria to qualify as a thug are. I think of it as a synonym for "goon", "dirtbag", etc. I agree with "some dumb old guy .....messing with some other person." Hell I liked it and I believe I started the thug thing, not too sure but it was in the post. Thug, not a thug - who cares. He wanted a fight and that's what he got. (Looks like he got more of a fight than he wanted though.) that's what i got out of the video, lol. he thought the vet would be affraid like most people are

there is a follow up interview with the vet:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Q3T6ADotVpM&feature=related not sure he is a very stand up guy either....but in the interview he pointed out the "THUG" was out on parrol for murder, so he is back in prison for 10 years for a paroll violation (he had a knife) and is being charged with assult and battery. Larue, that guy is a thug, he is trying to bully people around acting all big and bad against people he doenst' think will fight back. that is a thug, punk, asshole, etc in my book. notice he wasn't picking on anyone bigger than him. or even his same age. |

I don't disagree with those acts, but by my personal definitions that makes him random goon in my eyes.

did "Mr. shakur" even have an education?
anyway: Thug, a criminal, who treats others violently and roughly, especially for hire. Often a member of a gang, as an enforcer in organized crime. Thug (from Hindi ठग ṭhag), the member of the former Indian cult Thuggee. This is the original meaning. Thug Behram, a leader of the Thuggee cult I think he definitly fits the first description of a thug. BTW: my spelling sucks, always has, always will. get used to it, I have

Amber Lamps.
Epic Beard Man @ Oakland Game This is apparently the same guy getting tased at a baseball game. Well, tased is not quite the right word as the initial jolt barely phases him. Cattle proded is more appropriate giving what happens next. |

It's a personal vernacular choice. Did some esteemed educated professor coin the criminal affiliate definition of "thug" or is it just something you looked up on wikipedia? A formal education constructed under the parameters of a school or university does not define the extent of a man's intelligence and the worth of his words. I've grown up with the word being attributed to many revered individuals who although not having it easy trudge through difficulties and achieve aspirations to surmount barriers as opposed to submitting to their boundaries and living in them with all the ill effects like this man on the bus. So when someone chooses to call a loser like that "thug" I take it as an insult on my character. When someone uses ghetto as an adjective to describe people I get agitated with the lack of application to what it means as a moniker for geographic regions inhabited primarily by minorities. That's the vernacular I've grown with and that's where I'm coming from. |

Are you saying that you would be proud to be called a "thug"? Seriously? I think most folks here would think higher of you than that if given the chance to meet you, so why aspire for something lower? I really think you're reading too much into all of this. The point is that some jackass picked a fight and got his ass handed to him for doing so. Who cares if he's a minority from a certain geographic region - he's still a jackass. |

See that's what I mean, you're talking about a thug like a lower life form or something. What I'm telling you is that the definitions I grew up with made it a revered title, not a degrading one. In fact for a large part of my life the acronym "True Homie Under God" followed me around and still adorns various paraphernalia that I own. By what you're probably thinking a thug is some sort of ruffian affiliated with crime and violence, something that I've been accustomed to calling a goon. By what I've been taught and have experienced a thug is someone who may have born into life hard but doesn't just sit and grow into it like a goon would. This translates over to Christianity by direct metaphor since we are all born in sin and evil. Like a Christian chooses to follow God and surmount his sin, a Thug chooses to work harder and surmount the dumb lifestyle that a goon would just follow like a person who decides they're just going to live in their sin and deject greater things. That's the way I've been raised to see the term and that is what I do celebrate. And yes I am proud of the moniker. I'm not applauding the crime affiliated definition. That definition was not even known to me until recently. Trust that I do praise the word, but not the people you're probably thinking of and not the definition that you're used to. It's a vernacular thing. Our definitions are not the same, which is our views are not the same here. And what I'm saying is you don't know use the word ghetto to describe people, no more than you use the word "farm" or "city" or "suburb" as a descriptive word for a person. They're all places. And even if you do use ghetto to describe a person from a ghetto, from the material presented, how would you know that he is? ETA: To sum up what I'm saying, we have different definitions of what the word "thug" is to us. However our definition of this man in the video is the same. What you'd call a thug...I'd call a goon. What I call a thug....I don't know if you have a word for it. |
. at least he took up for himself
