cool. I've not shot one of these although I have shot IDPA now and then. is this OK for 3-gun beginners or should I wait for another time...

No don't wait, come out if you are a beginner. One thing with the our multi gun, it is not like a regular 3 gun. You will be required to shoot two different guns on one stage.

Its not the rifle itself ..... its the ammo that goes thru it that I dont have any of.

Plus I am thinking that I am going to limit myself to shooting pistol and shotgun only this year, along with bolt gun doe to ammo costs.

Shotgun question: I only have 1 shotgun but it has two barrels. Is the 18" barrel the preferred barrel?

18 is handier, but if you have an extended magazine tube on there, you cant make the gun any shorter than the mag tube.  So there is no real reason to run a 18 inch barrel if your tube sticks out 4 plus inches infront of the muzzle. A lot of guys who are shooting competitively are shooting 22 to 24 inch barrels.

I have a Remington 11-87 with 28" barrel. will this do?

that will work.

Most people use whatever will run in their gun, I normally shoot 100 round cheap stuff from wallyworld.

I know it is hard to predict until you know the number of shooters, but how long will this match run?  I really miss the days when I could hang out at the range all day long but they are behind me for the next decade, I expect.

Supposed to be 58 deg and sunny on Saturday. I think that will be the warmest match I have ever been to at creekside in a LONG time!

Joe, I just noticed the time is now 10.00 instead of later.  check in at 9.30.

Can we still shoot 30 min before the match to check zero and such?

well, this was going to be my first. but it looks like I'm out of this one. my wife is traveling out of town and I thought she was going to be home tonight but actually is not coming in till tomorrow AM. she's taking a red-eye in from San Diego to be with us this weekend so I guess I can't be all that angry.

have fun, stay safe everyone...
