Woo. It looks like Amazon has gotten their Atlanta distribution facility online. The last two packages from them I ordered came overnight instead of 2day and used Velocity Express instead of UPS and had Atlanta as the first location when the shipment was received by the carrier. Sweet. I like this.
If I'm getting overnight for free, I wonder if I can get same day if I pay for overnight. Anybody else notice this change? |

I ordered Zombieland Blu-Ray and the books No True Glory: the Battle for Fallujah and Generation Kill and they were here the next day, no shipping cost... No sales tax either. Don't know how that works.
It happened once before and I wrote it off as a fluke, I think the distribution center is dvd/bluray and mass-market books only. I ordered some Swiss Army gift sets for my coworkers for xmas and a college text book at the same time and they came from Memphis. |

So, since they now have a building in GA, does that mean we'll be paying tax when we buy from Amazon? AFAIK not. It's a warehouse, not a storefront. They still don't have a store presence here. I think Velocity is a 3rd party inventory delivery company, they don't fulfill orders, just box and ship under one of many contracts. |
