In effigy last night in plains GA. Secret service is investigating. Posted Via AR15.Com Mobile (CBS) The Secret Service is investigating after an effigy of President Obama was found hanging in the hometown of former President Jimmy Carter. It was a disturbing reminder of another era, reports Tara Mergener of CBS News affiliate WALB-TV; a large black doll hanging by a noose from a building on main street. It appeared right in front of a red white and blue sign that says, "Plains, Georgia. Home of Jimmy Carter our 39th president. According to a witness, the effigy had President Obama's name on it. Local residents worry this incident will give their town a bad name. But at least one prominent African American scholar says he's far from surprised. "I think there's this notion that we're in a post-racial period in America because of the election of the first African American president," said Dr. Anthony Samad, an associate professor of African American studies. "However, this president has received more death threats than any other president in the history of America." The effigy was removed quickly but the image may remain in people's minds for some time. ![]() PLAINS, Ga. –– A spokesman for the U.S. Secret Service says the agency is investigating an effigy of President Barack Obama found hanging from a building in the hometown of former President Jimmy Carter. It is considered a threat against the President. It is taken very seriously. It doesn't matter if it was a political poke, or someone doing it to express their dislike for the President. That place will be swarming with Feds like flies on dog shit.

Is this legal/illegal? |

Is this legal/illegal? So, you can say that you dislike the dude and it is ok under the first amendment, but if you burn/hang/or something of the like to an effigy, then it is a "threat"? |

Here is a CBS NEWS report that states he has received no more threats than any other president. Also in agreement with Monk, how many times was W hung and the BS media just dismissed it as "free speech". I don't think this is right under any circumstances but I also can't stand the outright lies and double standards about this crap. |

The KKK and neo-nazis are protected under freedom of speech too, yet their actions and beliefs are still repulsive to civilized people. I hate Obama, hate his policies, hate the double standard in the media but as an American I do not condone hanging an image of the man representing the office of President of the United States. To me that's like burning a flag because you don't like the commander in chief at the time. Posted Via AR15.Com Mobile |

I'm sure these people were checked out by the proper authorities....
Oh...and how come these people aren't "shoot on sight"? Pinko Commie Bastards ETA: Some of the pics are NSFW, as apparently a form of protest for "No Bush" is male full frontal nudity and women hanging their saggy tits out. |

I wouldn't be surprised if, this professor or someone of his what should I say...., well I'll jsut say this I went to a ppublic university in the midwest, that had a reputation for low minority enrollment, high percentage of kids from an upper middle class background, oh and high apptitude and grades, but non the less an issue was made for diversity/racism. Then one year over Christmas break the student naacp center was "vandalized with racist comments", well guess who was caught??? That's right the president of the the student naacp. |
