I know that the ammo sticky didnt do so well, but is there anyway that we could get a sticky for matches in the area?

One for the entire state/surrounding areas?

00bullit made mention in the thread about shooting the Toys for Tots match that he shoots every weekend somewhere in the Southeast.  Hell had I known that match was in SC I might have made the ride out there and dropped Jess off at her Aunt and uncles and I would have gone shooting had I known about it.

I think that the Brian Enos forum is pretty much all about shooting competitions somewhere but I dont visit that forum at all.

I think that a sticky here in the HTF about matches to get those who want to get out and shoot would be great.

We are fixing to start a new year and why not try something new to help spread the word.  I know not everyone who owns guns is into competitive shooting but there are those who are but may not know of an upcoming match.

Its just something that I was thinking about.

And it doesnt have to be just run and gun stuff either, highpower matches, F class matches.  I know that those who regularly compete in their respected disciplines keep track of whats going on but for those who would like to get out and participate they may not know where to look.

I wouldn't mind seeing training courses in the area added to the same sticky.

How about this.

Georgia HTF Events Calendar

I can set this up so authorized users can post events on the calendar with details and such.

Basically it'll be a user updated community event board.

The only problem with a sticky is that the thing will get comments like who is going and will become a nightmare to go through all the posts, that being said i would still look through it.

There should be a read this section before posting that states only events can be posted, maybe have a moderator just for that thread so book is not over worked and we could pm the mod to have an event added other wise it will be to hard to keep on track.people would carry on pages of conversations asking about who is going and it would ruin the sticky.

Or  just sticky a link to a calender as posted a few posts up and then if you have questions about a match come back here and post about it.

THIS!  Plus, training classes on the calendar.  Posts could be made in the thread (or a new one) for those interested in discussion or asking questions.  Calendar is events only for those that want to cut to the chase.

I hate posts 2-3 days or even a week before the event.  But I guess my input doesn't matter since I haven't been to a class or competition this year...  Damn, I didn't realize it had been a yr.  I need to make some changes (once deer season is over) in 2010!

Yep.  Sticky threads NEVER work right IMHO.

I don't have time to update a thread with info.

The calendar looks good if someone wants to keep it up.  One issue that HAS been brought up in the past by Site Staff is the "no advertising in the HTF" rule.  I've seen them smack down posts by guys like Joe for announcing his matches.  So, we might have some "sales" kind of issues with which to contend.

As long as the match director isnt the one that puts it on the calendar I see it simply as someone letting us know when a match is gonna be.

I think the calendar idea would work, with a sticky and a link to it and thats it.

If everybody is ok with it I'd be happy to keep the calendar up since I've already got it setup. Also I can put in authorized users so more than one person can add stuff to it.

Just let me know what you want and I'll get it setup.
