A while ago, somebody asked where to get cheap dental work done and I can't find the post.  I remember somebody saying a college had a class that did it.  My canine incisor needs a root canal and a crown, don't know why it needs a crown, but thats what the dentist said.  It'll cost about $1,000 out of my pocket if I get it done, obviously cheaper if I have it yanked when it starts hurting too much.  Any info. would be greatly appreciated.

Usually, they put in a crown after the root canal to prevent the tooth from cracking.

That's cheap. My one and only root canal + crown was close to two grand.

Well thats my cost after insurance pays their part, my total is closer to $1300.  Honestly I'm not crazy about letting some college kid practice on me, but its either that or yank the tooth.  If it was in the back of my mouth, I wouldn't care, but since I already look bad enough in family photo's, I don't want the camera person saying please don't smile

Oh yeah. If you have insurance the dentist is gonna jack up the price. Try go'n in and telling them you're not go'n use insurance and see what the price is. Cuz when I didn't mine without insurance and they ended up working with me on pricing.

MCG School of Dentistry here in Augusta is probably what he was referring to.  I had work done there years back and it was probably 10% of what you'd normally pay.  I don't what the deal is these days,  but you can call them and ask.

I go to colleges and it is not a college kid doing it. It is an actual Dentist.

Definitely call before you go.  I seem to remember their hours are a little different a couple of days of the week.

They are probably dental school students or dentoids as Drs like to call them.

No they are not. They are Dentists and sometimes students observe but not always. Where I go students aren't allowed to do the work. Not sure how Ga runs their Unis
