It's available for pre-order in a 4 pack. Final cost per person is $34. Three people who wish to join me? GA HTF Zombie squad accepting applications!

That's me in the white icecream suit on the left. Zombies require less facial hair.

The best part of the original Left 4 Dead was the co-operative nature
of the game, and none of this has changed in the sequel. You'll still
be required to heal your team-mates, and rescue them from all manner of
nefarious infected, but what is immediately obvious from the outset is
that Left 4 Dead 2 contains a bunch more content. Melee weapons have
been enhanced considerably - where Left 4 Dead limited you to using
environmental objects such as oxygen cylinders, gas cans and propane
tanks to strategically mutilate the infected, Left 4 Dead 2 introduces
the samurai sword, frying pan, chainsaw, cricket bat, crowbar, machete,
nightstick, axe, baseball bat and guitar, as well as the conventional
pipe bombs and molotov cocktails.
Primary weapons have been enhanced too - you'll be able to pick up a
silenced SMG, AK-47, grenade launcher, semi-auto sniper rifle and a
magnum in addition to all the weapons from the first. The AK-47 is
particularly enjoyable in the demo, it has a slower rate of fire than
the assault rifle, but does a heap of damage even at long range. As if
that wasn't enough, you can even pick up explosive as well as
incendiary rounds for various weapons, and target your prey using laser
sights!

To prevent the game from becoming a mindless turkey shoot (or at least,
more of a mindless turkey shoot), Valve have added to the army of the
infected with several new bosses. The Jockey is particularly annoying,
as he seems to appear out of practically nowhere and attach himself to
your back, prompting your three companions to immediately turn around
and unload their weapons at you. The Jockey will also steer you towards
other mobs of infected at the whim of the AI director, and this
resulted in a pretty spectacular wipe for myself and my online
companions, the details of which need not be repeated here.
The Charger is about the size of The Boomer, however has a hugely
mutated arm and runs at an incredible speed - usually right for you
when you're trapped in an alleyway and have nowhere to go. He's
particularly good at slamming your lifeless corpse on various
environmental objects - dumpsters, walls, the sidewalk - whatever is
likely to drain as much health from you while your friends stand around
trying to hit him.

The Spitter vomits waves of toxic green sludge that does significant
damage to your health. Oh, and The Witch now wanders around in
daylight, and sounds a lot freakier than before, if that's even
possible. It's nice to know the phrase "don't startle the witch" is
likely to make a popular comeback at LAN events over the festive season.
As alluded to previously, much of the gameplay remains the same - this
is a good thing, as there wasn't really anything wrong the first time
around. What Left 4 Dead 2 brings to the party is the additional
content Valve probably should have released as part of their ongoing
commitment for the first title. That old chestnut. In any case, we've
been promised that the campaigns will be longer this time around, and
they're also throwing in a new "Skirmish" mode allowing four-on-four
tactical gameplay with dedicated map support. Valve have also hinted at
a "Realism" mode designed to test the limits of players, no doubt more
about this will be revealed over the coming weeks.

If you did it for XBOX360 and not PC then I would.

Valve's stuff is more polished on the PC anyway though.

Know some friends who got Demo tickets

You'll like it...I like it more than the first.

Even if you get a RROD every few years it's still cheaper than maintaining a top of the line gaming PC.

i GOT the RROD..

And they fixed it for FREE and had it back in two weeks.

My Xbox360 is special because its manufacturing date was my birthday.

And your scope mount has your name on it... post one more time and I'll put you down for a PC copy anyway!

Come on guys! I'll be fun. I can't wait to chop up some more zombies and spend Thanksgiving weekend yelling "Boomer!" at my computer screen!

Looks great, but I'd need it for the 360 as well.  Playing it split screen on my 50 inch HD TV would be awesome.  I just can't get anyone in the house to play part one with me, my 9 year old wants to play it though.  Left 4 Dead is great when played with somebody else on the TV split screen.

Damn Doug, you're never on line with L4D as it is, and you want to go to L4d2?

I'm going to download it via my steam account while in afghanistan.  Dking... were you in Savannah today?  I saw a guy in court that looked like pictures of you I have seen on here...  I heard l4d2 takes place in Savannah... is this true?

You get me that price on XBOX 360 and I am in!  Now I'm off to play some COD4 so when the new one comes out next week I won't look too bad.

I'd only play it on co-op on x live.  You kids kick my ass on everything else.  Now give me a mouse, and keyboard, and I do pretty well with the pc games online.

They seem to go from New Orleans all the way to Savannah I believe.

Or maybe backwards. Can't remember

All I know for sure is that New Orleans is the featured location and they make a big travel to somewhere else.

My Review;

Like LFD1 after 2 weeks I was bored shitless.
I was on the early beta team for testing, it was cool and all but way too predictable. Even the finished one had nothing really new as I got mine 3 weeks ago just more of the same with new faces.

Either you love it or hate it, their seems to be little in between.  I'm giving mine to the new kid across the street who might be a bit slow but seems to love LFD1.  Now I need to go delete this and make room for the next beta that just arrived today a process I call gag and defrag.

I give it

I test for free and get the games in payment.  Sometimes I do get paid by some developers who I have worked with before but not often.

I haven't bought a store built computer in decades.  I build my own and I've got an Xbox 360, no need to upgrade for the same game I can play on the Xbox

Is there a tutorial out there for computer building?  I think I understand the parts needed pretty well except for compatability.  I have been wanting to build one for a while now, but none of my friends know enought to get me there.

just got done doing 10min on the demo on xbox live....

it was choppy as hell....very laggy-

dont know if it was a bad server or what, but i must say, the tactical shotgun is pretty pimp!

and i LOVE the home made supressor on the UZI!
11/5/2009 3:53:18 AM EDT
[#30]
the suppressor goes on the MAC10, not uzi.  the tie wraps hold the flashlight to the suppressor.  I played the DEMO last night.  In all, I liked it but I have to say the weapons models/perspective are jacked up.  They are way too CLOSE to the shooter and block out too much view.  I hope they change this (back to L4D 1 standards) soon.

Just played the demo on PC with my clan. None of us are going to buy it until the first steep price cut (if that) because it is nothing more than the DLC promised for L4D1 but repackaged with a $50 price tag.
Also, it took almost half a year for L4D to be finished after being released. I'm sure L4D2 has some "features" that won't even make it into the game that will make excellent ideas for a sequel. Not to mention the lag and bugs that I saw during the demo, I doubt they'll be addressed quickly.

I'll pass on this and COD6.

It's a piece of crap.

More of an add on to the old game or an update.
   New COD is pretty good.
