| Has anyone been to one? How are they? Thanks!! |

I've done quite a few courses at Creekside (Carbine, Carbine + Pistol, Shotgun, Precision Rifle) and all have been very well run. Joe is a good teacher and Steve and Mark (who usually help with courses) are top notch.
If you've never taken a Carbine course you will be in for a treat. It really covers a lot of things the casual shooter never does. Mag changes, moving and shooting, low light (if possible), malfunctions, cover and concealment, etc. You will learn a ton. So what I'm saying is, do it.

Get use to hearing "MAG CHANGE" and " WORK SPACE" ...
Best money I have spent lately. Good chance to find out if your gear works or not. As for me I had two AR's fail when I took the carbine course. Finished the class using an instructors weapon. The rest of my gear worked fine. Take as many weapons as you can, lots of ammo and the correct clothing( I swear it was 200 degrees in the pit when I took the class.) |

I had just gotten my first AR when I took the first Carbine Course at Creekside. From the very start, I was impressed. Yes lots of mag changes, working in your workspace, firing from different positions, firing while on the move, from behind cover and all sorts of other good stuff. For the money, there is no better option.
Joe and gang are great instructors and really know how to put on a great course. I would love to go through another, but time and ammo are two things I don't have a lot of right now. I would highly recommend the course and anything he teaches. He will say that his way is not the only way, just a way. Learn what you can and adapt it to work for you and your situation. |
Eh, you don't really get all that dirty. Wear a white shirt and make sure and bring a really nice gun. I prefer loafers way over boots. You can wear shorts and keep your knees clean no problem. I'd say you could put all the dirt on the range in a small dustpan. Only bring a mag or two of ammo, you do way more socializing than shooting anyway.
The above statement is complete and utter bullshit. I tried to pull off some major sarcasm but failed miserably. Creekside is the real deal. It's some top notch training at an extremely fair price. Joe damn sure isn't getting rich doing it but it's what he loves to do. |

I highly recommend Joe's class. the best money you'll ever spend on training. You will need to do some running, push up, sit up and regular exercise before the class if you don't want to get beat up by lunch break. You will learn more about yourself, how easy it is to miss the target, you will be out of your comfort zone, nervous, tried and so many things can causes you to miss your target.
I quoted this from ikickhippies " You owned a guitar doesn't make you a musician without practicing, so you bought a gun doesn't make you become a shooter". Another good instructor I would like to mention beside Joe and his gang is USSA-1(Eric Lund) and 00bullitt( Tod Litt) |
| The first class I have ever been to was Joe's basic carbine class. It was great, you will learn a lot, think differently about your shooting, gear, etc. Agree you'll hear mag change, point of aim/point of impact a lot! Don't agree with needing to run, do push ups, etc, the class I did was in the high 80's and didn't think it was that taxing. Anyway didn't want that to scare anyone away. I would and do plan on doing more classes with them. Just wish I could get in a little more practice before the match in November |
