| We all know what happened on this day eight years ago today. I just want to send a big THANK YOU to all of our troops who will finish what they started. And to all the families that were impacted by that tragic event, WE WILL NOT FORGET! |

"Men of Cornwall stop your dreaming Can't you see their spear points gleaming? See their warriors' pennants streaming To this battlefield. Men of Cornwall stand ye steady It cannot be ever said ye for the battle were not ready. STAND AND NEVER YIELD!" - "Men of Harlech" Sung by Rick Rescorla in the Ia Drang Valley 1965 and in the stairway of WTC Tower 2 on September 11, 2001 |

I'll never forget...
hearing the news of the first airplane hitting the towers, seeing the second plane impacting, my SIL telling me we are watching people die, me thinking 'I hope we get the bastards & get the right ones', seeing all the flags, giving my wife a long hug & telling her how thankful I am to have her to hug, watching my son's soccer game that night so I could pull away from the TV to be with my family & say a prayer for those that wouldn't be with their families that night, not hearing a plane... I'll never forget & always be thankful for the men & women standing up for US. 7mm |

My prayers are with the victims, their families, and the men and women that still today carry the fight to the enemy! We all need to be reminded of this. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=b4GqdfRJf5E&feature=PlayList&p=204F98934B6A39A3&playnext=1&playnext_from=PL&index=28 And if we had done more of this more of those men and women woudl be home today. From the only democract I have every respected said the following: "We must strike the viper's nest –– even if he's not there," Zell Miller said in a prepared statement. "I say, bomb the hell out of them. If there's collateral damage, so be it. They certainly found our civilians to be expendable." |

Off to the gun shops! Because there are many brave men and women whom have lost their lives in order for me to enjoy this freedom. And today is one day that many will reflect on the events that started a new war.

KIA 09/09/09 BREAKING NEWS: Monroe native killed in Iraq By David Clemons The Walton Tribune Published September 9, 2009 MONROE — A Monroe man who was serving the nation in Operation Iraqi Freedom has died. The Department of Defense announced today that First Lt. Joseph D. Helton, 24, died Tuesday near Baghdad. Helton sustained wounds when enemy forces attacked his vehicle with a roadside bomb. Helton was assigned to the U.S. Air Force’s 6th Security Forces Squadron, based out of MacDill Air Force Base in Florida. Helton was a 2003 Monroe Area High School graduate and a 2007 graduate of the Air Force Academy. Reports indicated Helton completed the academy in the top 10 percent of his class. We are deeply saddened by his loss and very proud of his service.” An Associated Press database of Iraq war casualties shows at least 50 people from Georgia have died since fighting began in 2003. 1st LT Helton 7mm |

I will never forget Me neither. I was at work [yes, at the pawn shop]. The cable went out and people started calling us telling us what happened. We listened to everything on the radio. Damn we sold a lot of guns that week following. I was in college at the time and classes were optional the next day. I went and my philosophy professor gave us a full fucking sitrep about EVERYTHING that we needed to know. An hour long class turned into four hours of learning who they were and why they hated us. It was honestly the best and most important class I ever remember taking. The professor had either been working on it or stayed up all night building the program he presented. Where were you? |
![]() My cell phone had been ringing and I wondered why in the world people were calling me when they knew I was at work & couldn't answer. I was teaching a class of preschoolers - 2 year olds - & class had just started when our director pulled me out of the class to tell me. Not long after I remember some parents coming to pick up their kids early. I remember having the tv on PBS for Zakk because he was too little to see & understand the news. Throughout the day I followed the events on Drudge mostly. I remember watching the coverage that night and the news showing one of the hospitals. Nurses and docs standing outside waiting for patients and no one came. This is a weird thing to remember but I remember going to the bank w/i the next couple days - not too far from PDK and how eerily silent it was because there were no planes flying. I remember wondering how long it would take before The Monk went back to the USMC and worrying about our friends who were still in at the time. |

i had just started highschool, i was in theater class....
a classmate came in (cameron) who was in ISS or something, and said someone had bombed the WTC again.... then we got a TV, and of coarse Cobb County wouldnt let us watch the remainder of it... i remember my hairs standing up listening to Bush's remarks later that evening when we went to dinner for my girlfriends 15th b-day at a mexican resturant. At the end of the speech everyone stood up and clapped....im sure 99% of America clapped with them- |

Every year I remember exactly wher I was and what I was doing. I had the news going on my trucks radio and all the guys on the job site gathered around and were listening. None of us were able to talk for quite a while. Every year I make sure that my son sees the pictures of the Trade Center so he will always remember too.
What is really spooky was on Sept 11 2002 I had to go work on the same loader for the same customer except instead of working in Acworth I was in Roswell. |

I was working from home that day and remember watching television for hours and the complete and utter shock, and trying to get ahold of my father for most of the day. I knew my mother was fine, but my father was relatively close to DC.
I spent about 45 minutes this morning crying and watching the footage again on TV. I found out several years later that a girl that I went to school with was on the flight that went down in Pennsylvania. RIP Lizz Wainio... my prayers go out to your family and the families of all of those who have lost loved ones and those who serve. |

RIP Lizz Wainio... my prayers go out to your family and the families of all of those who have lost loved ones and those who serve. Our oldest daughter's name is Honor Elizabeth....she was named after my great-great grandmother. Not a very common name. I found out after she was born (in 2002) that there was an Honor Elizabeth Waino on the Pa. plane. I've often thought of her even though we obviously never knew her. |
