As some of you know, I am a parachute rigger in the Army Reserves.  The last two weeks were our AT at Ft. Dix, NJ.  The first week, I got five jumps, and managed to take some pictures and videos.  This is a compilation of the best, set to the song that I like to listen to before jumping out of airplanes.  Enjoy!

Always loved the C-17...couple steps out the door...then sucked off the side of the plane. :)

Dang, youtube killed the soundtrack.  It's supposed to be 'Good Times, Bad Times' by Led Zeppelin.

That's How My Boys Roll!

Thanks BlackEagle .  You brought a tear to an old paratrooper's eyes.
...but you're still a cherry

What's the old saw?  Fun jumps rarely are?  Although jumping admin off the tailgate of a  C-23 is as close to it as you get since they retired the CH-54s.   Brings back memories.

I was happy to see that old ATI DC-8....it's the one that does the Thule run.  Half cargo/half pax.  It's the very last passenger DC-8 operating as far as I know.

Bullsh*t!  13 Jumps and counting.  The chump with the red tape on his helmet was a cherry, but he ain't me!

(No disrespect, just defending my airborne honor.  )

I thought the 13th jump was the one that got scrapped?

14th.

BTW, you are just feeling very helpful this thread, aren't you?

My 13th was my final before leaving Bragg. Piss poor exit, twisted risers 3/4 of the way up to the canopy. "Bicycled" out of it just in time to drop my pack, hear it go "thunk" and slam into the ground. And then I got drug...I'm 230lbs...first time I had ever been drug after a landing.

That was a good time ;)  13 jumps, 10 scrapped missions. So goes a short airborne career...

wow, all those jumps!

I only have one!  a.k.a. a Mustard Stain.  I was still in the harness saying to myself, "Yep, combloc tracers really are green!"

If you need a new 1SG whose willing to take one for the team and use one your allotted HALO slots at the 421st, Im your E-8!

P.S., that particular P226 has been upgraded to a P226R Combat/M6XIR.

It's just a seniority and tradition thing.

You technically bust your cherry with your first unit jump.

But between any two paratroopers who didn't bust it at the same time, one is an "Old Timer" and the other a "Cherry".

To everyone ahead of you, you are (and forever will remain) a Cherry.  To everyone who came along behind you, you are an Old Timer.

Only an Old Timer can properly call you a Cherry, but you still have the right to tell him to FO.  Got it Now, Cherry?

Wow, nice.  I had no delusions of being the most senior guy here, but I didn't know somebody with a mustard stain was in HTF.  Where was your combat jump?

Op Just Cause (Op Blue Spoon)

Im not the only one here; Joe Harris (Creekside) also got his Combat Jump in Panama as well.

Kind of insignificant now that there's Hooah's running around 3d Batt that have three combat jumps and some of the 75th Regtimental Recon guys have three or possibly more HALO combat jumps.
