I recently bought 15 100 round plastic ammo containers from Frankford Arsenal.   They are smoke colored and hold 100 rounds each.

I have all my rounds facing down with the primers facing up.   I figured that was the easiest way to grip the bullet when loading.   The ammo in there is Speer Gold Dots.   Having the hollow point facing down won't damage it when shaking around in the plastic container when it is in the trunk of a car would it?   Would it be better to store them bullet facing up instead?

Thanks!

Are the containers coned to cradle the rounds like factory boxes?

I have no idea if bouncing around on a flat plastic surface is any different, but if they are closed in the cradle the rounds like most factory boxes are, then I'd be more positive that it's alright.

Sorry I can't be more help.

They are not coned at the bottom.  Just square plastic holes.  I am assuming it should be ok, but wanted to double check.  Most ammo containers for rifles are point up, but for handgun ammo, I see signs on the website saying "Can be stored facing up or down".

Just didn't want to wear the finish on the hollow point.

I'm sure it can't be too bad with plastic. However I'm sure someone else can chime in.

UHHHHH srsly?

I wouldnt be worried about wearing finish and shit like that.

Bigger concern would be bullet set back.  BUT with a taper crimp on a factory round I wouldnt worry so much about it.

Rifle rounds are stored primer down because of the precision world, bullets are set to a certain depth..... put the round on the bullet nose and drop the box and you could have bullet set back.  Drop the round primer side down and bullet set back is less likely to occur.  There is no crimp on precision rounds and usually neck tension is kept to a minimum.
