I am not too sure if I can post this in this forum, but what the Hell. We are in the process of hiring 100+ people in the next few months. This is for a Firefighter/EMT position with the City of Atlanta Fire Dept.. We work 24 on, and have 48 off. The pay is not that bad, and you do not have to ride on an ambulance; you will always be on a fire truck. The details are in the link below, and if you have any questions, shoot me a message.

Atlanta Fire Dept. Application More out of curiosity than anything else, what is the starting pay for these positions? |

The starting pay is around 40K, but the schedule allows you to work a part-time job as well. The reason why we are hiring so many is there are 100-150 firefighters that are retiring after 30 years, at 90% of their salary Didn't the city just lay off 135 firefighters less than a year ago? I hope that those retiring firefighters have a cash payout option. As of July last year, the unfunded pension liabilities of the City of Atlanta was $1.2 Billion. Yes, that's billion. |

Quoted: We laid off 35, and rehired them all back. The City of Atlanta Shirley Franklin is not the best boss, but if you want to run interesting calls, and not ride on an ambulance, it is the best place to work. The unfunded pension issue is why we had major cuts, and furloughs. Her failed policy's have chased money out of the city and into DeKalb. |

That's sad when moving into DeKalb out of the City of Atlanta is considered an improvement. TD |

Where is it, then? I haven't seen much move from Atlanta to Dekalb, aside from crackheads. |

Well I am not going to lie ... I WILL be applying ... hell worst thing they can do is give me a job right ? I can state with good faith that under no circumstances will they allow you to attach viking horns to your helmet. And that's a shame. Thats bullshit. You mean I cant mod the helmet to have the horns on there too? |

Buckhead made millions in revenue for the city as well as the others. Trade show customers are pissed with few options, this lead to less shows. Fewer shows, less tax dollars. Same goes with the music venues. It's all a big circle that made a lot of money. Being in the industry I feel the pain in my wallet daily. I went from 60k to nothing almost, in a short amount of time. Her visions have been nothing but failure and we pay the price. |

Her visions have been nothing but failure and we pay the price.: Welcome to the joys of "central planning" brought to you courtesy of all the bullshit local governments that for some reason think it is encumbant upon them to meddle in places where the government has no fucking business. And to think, there was actually a time when "central planning" was mostly limited to hard-core socialist countries. Well not any more: got a business you do not like? No problem, zone them out of existence; want to create some nice graft for the politicos and connected property owners? No problem, stop renewing liquour licenses and make in impossible to do business unless people do it only on the properties you will allow it. Never have I seen a city that did so much to kill an entire segment of its own entertainment industry that made money effortlessly, solely for corrup political purposes. Sorry for the OT rant but the subject matter mentioned by the previous poster just really kills me. |

Then.........there is always the muster helmet, given he makes it through recruit school and gets assigned to a house and is picked to be on the team. Quoted: Quoted: Well I am not going to lie ...
