Do you guys use "Titles" down there or a "Bill of Sale" when selling vehicles? I'm looking at something on ebay to restore and that's what the seller was saying, just verifying. Thanks! |

Depends on age. I think after 10 years? Ga doesn't require a title. I'd have to check. If your restoring I'll bet it's old as dirt. Probably no title available or required in Ga. When I was doing mustangs I know we had titles on everything we did. Don't know if it was neceddary or not but we always had em and that was for anything from 65's to 68's. Counties in GA handle the titles, even though they are processed through the GA DMV, I couldn't find much info there. However, my county had a link to the GA DOR website http://motor.etax.dor.ga.gov/motor/titles/required.asp
Looks like it's optional on anything older than '86. |
| i bought a motorcycle off craigslist a few weeks ago, and when i bought it, i made sure I got a bill of sale and that the title was signed over properly. When I went to the title office, i didnt even need the bill of sale and everything worked out good and I got the title. But I would still get it just to be safe. |

From the Georgia Motor Vehicle Division website.
Vehicle Title Not Required/Not Issued: 1962 and older year model vehicles. Vehicle Title Optional: You can title a 1963-1985 year model vehicle if you have a title issued in your name. Vehicle Title Required: 1986 & newer year model motor vehicles |

Thanks for the info guys. It's a mute point now anyway. Ebay pulled the auction for some reason. It was for the best. I really was thinking about it and it was not what I wanted. Note to self: "Don't surf ebay for old cars at night while drinking after the wife goes to bed." ![]() |
