A man was shot by someone he was attempting to rob Saturday evening, according to Macon Police Sgt. Melanie Hofmann.

Hofmann said just before 6:45 p.m., 50-year-old Ricky Johnson, wearing a wig and a skirt, entered ABC Liquor at 1194 Martin Luther King Junior Boulevard and showed a gun. She says he jumped the counter, demanded money and fired a shot. She says an employee then fired back at the man.

Shortly after, Johnson was transported by ambulance from a parking deck near the Medical Center of Central Georgia to the emergency room. He was treated for a gunshot wound to his upper thigh.

Hofmann said no one else was hurt.
