Tried boiled peanuts for the first time today. They're pretty tasty.
When you get a small one and it's all mush inside, do you still eat it/scrape the mush out of the shell? |

Love Boiled Peanuts. Sometimes I make my own. Sometimes I buy them from Churches that make them to raise money. Never have eaten them from a gas station though, not sure if I want to try. It was a small gas station somewhere between Augusta and Waynseboro. I was hesitant at first cause they were just sitting in a crock pot by the door, self serve. I figured, what the heck. It's been a few hours and I'm still feelin' alright. Do you put anything else in the pot when you boil 'em? (Other than water and nuts.) |

I don't really care for them although my wife and kids can't seem to get enough.
I boil them up a bushel at the time in an outside cooker several times each year. My wife freezes the peanuts they don't eat and they seem to freeze and thaw well according to her. TD |

My uncle is a peanut farmer. We used to have these a lot. Why people don't love boiled peanuts is beyond me. Cause they are dumba$$ yankees...
Just kidding but I sure do love boiled peanuts. Monk Me too. When I moved here 10 years ago, I was baffled by the "BOILED PEANUTS" signs. As someone who was totally inexperienced, boiling peanuts made as much sense as boiling steak. But then I tried them and I was born again. Now I make them. I try to find jumbo fresh green peanuts (4 quarts), half a cup of salt, combine in crockpot, and wait 8 hours. Simple, pure pleasure. |
