Ok I need to vent for a sec.
I have been looking for a 10/22 built how I want forever. I wanted a Hogue overmold stock, bull barrel, nice trigger setup. I found one on GON about a month and a half ago that fit the bill perfectly and bought it instantly. I was just able to get it out today to do some shooting and I have been psyching my self up this entire wait on how nice this gun is going to be. I HATED IT. I was getting at least 3 FTE/FTF out of each mag. This was using the ammo he sent with the rifle that "the rifle eats all day long." Not only that but several times it wouldnt even extract the round, I had to use the knife to get it out. I PM'd him today and he offered to refund but I think Im gonna see if I can sell it at the gun show tomorrow. I guess Im just going to have to break down and get that Spikes .22 upper Ive been wanting. Needless to say this was the most dissapointing shooting day in a while.

6/10.....needed some cuss words in bold letters.

Note to self for tomorrow.... don't buy the 10/22 with the Hogue overmold stock, bull barrel, and nice trigger setup.

Just kidding, good luck getting this squared away. I would get the refund, write it off as chit happens, and get the Spikes upper. YMMV.

Before you sell it, pull out and clean/polish the bolt assembly especially the firing pin.and the channel it sits in.   Its a PIA to do as you need to buy a special pin punch.  When I first got my new 10/22, I had the same issue.  I tried everything and nothing worked.    I decided to do that and found the channel was full of oil and shite which slowed the firing pin from retracting fast enough.   Once I cleaned the channel, I didn't have those issues.

Also try scrubbing the chamber out real well, and make sure it is well oiled with a light gun oil.  My bull barreeled 10/22 has a tight match chamber and gets picky faster than stock barreled versions.

+1 to cleaning it thoroughly before giving up...

Also, were you using the OEM mags?  Many of the aftermarket ones can be crap....

Was clean as a wistle before I shot it. It already has all VQ internals that have been polished to a mirror finish. Even if it was just a smidge dirty I dont want a rifle that you have to clean every 100-200 shots, Ive been known to put a brick and a half through a rifle in a day. This was the OEM mag.

I would also try some different ammo.  Try some 40 grain CCI Mini-Mag.  These are recommended by many gun manufacturers as the go to ammo for proper function.   I had many 22 LR rifles that would FTF, but with this ammo, that all stopped.

FTE is either a dirty chamber, bulk rounds in a tight match chamber, or a chipped/worn extractor. All are easy fixes. If it is too tight a chamber and you are set on shooting lots of bulk ammo, take it to a gunsmith and have him use a regular chamber reamer to open it up. For a really tight chamber you will not get the chamber completely clean from cleaning from the muzzle. Take the barrel off and scrub from the chamber end or find a DIY post about drilling a cleaning access hole at the back of the reciever.

Thanks for all the advice guys, I'm super cheap and I just want things to work regardless. If it wont run fed bulk all day long I dont want it. Its going back to him first thing monday morning. And the Spikes upper is getting ordered when I get my $$$ back.

it will run bulk pack, but you gotta realize you have an after market match barrel on there.  the chamber is NOT the same as a stock chamber is.  it's made with much tighter tollerences.  and now you are trying to to take bulk pack ammo which is made with the loosest tollerences possible and asking them to work together.

but I tell you what, I have a stock barrel that I will be will to trade you for the bull barrel.  the end is threaded with 1/2x28 and is expanded with a spacer to get more clamping force for the suppressor.

I have one of those too.  I have been lucky with mine but others are very picky about ammo.  I think there is a sticky post in their industry forum where they talk about the ammo.  now they are recommending the agularia (SP) ammo instead of the bulk pack.

if you wanna try mine out let me know.  I have to be there since it's an SBR.
