| Apparently the US census is conducting opperations in Forsyth county in the near future. Their represenative stopped by our office a couple of days ago and told us that they would be marking homes with a hand held GPS unit and that they were getting their workers from Atlanta unemployment offices. This should be good. I wonder how much entering autos and thefts will go up here. NOTE, I did not speak to the man, but talked to two people who did. Just thought you guys would want to know. I am wondering if this is some sort of prototype program or if this has to do with the stimulus package. |

Just because they are hiring from the Atlanta unemployment offices doesn't mean crime will go up. And if it does, then well thats what I call Job security

I had a guy pull in my driveway last week saying he was with the Census Bureau. He steadily was punching in numbers on a GPS unit. It took him about ten minutes. Drove a BMW, black guy, clean cut, and about the size of an NFL linebacker.
It kinda made me feel uncomfortable...maybe I'm paranoid or maybe I'm not paranoid enough. |

I dropped a motorcycle off for some repair work in Rossville, GA, a few weeks back. While the mechanic was riding my bike a nice lady drove up, got out and was wearing a ID tag around her neck. Said she was with the census folks. Said she was getting GPS reading, recording if the house was a business or residence and a PHOTO of the front door. Sure enough, the little PDA she was carrying recoded a photo of the entrance of the shop.
Me nor the mechanic could believe it............ |

| I tried to participate in the 2000 census, things were a lot different then it seems like. I didn't need the money I just thought it would be neat to be a part of it and see what all they record. I was disqualified because I'm LE. But then ALL the workers for Forsyth county were from Forsyth county. It is my understanding that that was a requirement for all the counties. Now they are going to an un employment office in downtown to recruit workers, I mean come on like there are not enough out of work people here that are dying for any kind of work. |
