Guys the next service rifle match at Creekside is upon us on January 1st.

Its at 1300 so I dont want to hear any excuses that " I was hungover and couldnt make it".

Volly is 40 rounds long.  Usually 10 slow fire standing, 10 rapid fire kneeling or sitting, 10 rapid fire prone, and 10 semi rapid fire prone with a mag change.

And who knows someone might just do a bayonet charge.

Service Rifle Match

__________________________________________________________

__________________________________________________________

The service rifle events are open to everyone and any skill level.

The event is designed for shooters to get familiar with service rifle

matches and shooting form different positions. If you have never

participated in an event with a service rifle we welcome you to come

out. We all try to help one another and having fun is more important

here than competition.

We shoot a 40 round course of which includes standing, sitting or

kneeling, and prone. Slow and rapid fire both are shot. We give

each shooter a 10 minute site in period.

Items needed: Rifle that meets service rifle standards. It can be a

foreign service rifle also. Ammo, eye and ear protection (we have

them if needed). A spotting scope is recommended but not required,

we will have some on the line and people will share with you.

These events are designed to have a lot of fun shooting and learn

more about the aspect service rifle shooting. We encourage everyone

to come and join us for these events. You will have the opportunity

to meet some great people who love the shooting sport.

There will be no electric range finders or wind meters to the attachment

for the match.

Prizes will be awarded for 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place each time.

Check calendar for dates: Event will be shot rain or shine.

Some events are a 100 yard course of fire, and some are actual distance

course of fire (such as 200 standing, 300 sitting or kneeling, etc).

Times: Start time is 1:00PM and check in is by 12:30AM

Those are the posted rules and according to Joe that is my service rifle.

2 questions:

Is this one 100 yds, or 2/300?

Will there be more than one relay?  I would like to bring a new shooter, and if there are 2 relays we could share stuff.

There probably will be multiple relays depending on the number of shooters who show.

I believe that this one is going to be 100 with some simulated 2 or 300 targets.

The last one I shot there were two relays and all shots were taken at 100 yards.

20 bucks entry fee

Usually entrance fees from service rifle matches are donated to a millitary charity of one form or another.

I am gonna try to make it as well will aspirin be provided ? do they split out old bolt guys from semi's ? can I shoot 2 entries with different guns ?
12/31/2008 3:09:47 PM EDT
[#25]
Nah, its not like an NRA/DCM match where the rules are tight. ( if it were, only about 3 guns there last time would have been allowed to shoot. Very strict rules for Service Rifle in High Power) Its there to introduce shooters to the HP concept, meet other shooters and get people involved in the old school shooting... you know... marksmanship without batteries..  its alot of fun. And the funds go to good places... There are not classes or seperating. I shot one with a 105 year old bolt gun. Fun. Fun Fun. Nice people out there too. Just come to see what you and your rifle of choice can do. And usually you can shoot 2 relays with 2 seperate guns. Best to ask Joe to be sure.  Come on out.

It's good to see an interest in this kind of shooting.  In November of 2007 only three people showed up including myself.  I have a RRA NM A2 that I purchased to shoot in these kind of matches.

I'm oncall for work, so couldn't go.  Believe me, I'd much rather have been out shooting than sitting in a house with my soon-to-be-ex wife.
