I'd like some recommendations on some low profile hand (not rifle attached) flashlights. Something that would do fine in my pocket. Don't want to get too ridiculous in price.

I don't now what you consider ridiculous on price but I love my Insight Tech Typhoon.  It came with my Eotech and it goes almost everywhere I do.  Its a little big for a pocket light but I haven't seen another light that can match the options.  You can adjust the output so it works for any job.

Other places carry it but botach was the first one on the google search (or you can order it from Blackhawk for $100 more).  This one is even brighter than the one I have.  I have the first version.

+1 billion on the backup. A truly awesome 1 cell light. I carry one every day and would have nothing else.

The sites I just checked are showing $150, however one of the sites offered 10 batteries in the price.

For a cheaper option.

Fenix L2D. I've been carrying one daily for a year.

http://www.candlepowerforums.com/vb/    has a lot of good info on lights.

I was a Surefire devotee until recently.  Last couple of years, I have been using Fenix P3D (& a few other models).   Fenix make just about every type of carry light that you can think of.

One of their news one is the PD30:
https://www.4sevens.com/product_info.php?cPath=22_65&products_id=358

Small enough for pocket, but super bright.  only dislikes - too smooth & no momentary-on function (however, they have a "tactical" line of lights that do)

You get a discount code from the forum for 8%

I carry a fenix p2d daily.

It is about the size of a roll of pennies.

It has 4 levels of brightness and will run a long time on 1 battery.

12 lumens for 30 hours up to 180 lumens for 1 hour

Fenix P1D is attached to my keychain and is in my pocket every day.  1 CR123 and it works great.  I work in an office environment so a tactical light is a little out of place.

I carry two. A Streamlight microstream single AAA LED and an Executive E1e LED single cell lithium.

Personally I prefer the single AAA cell Streamlight. I never even know its there and it is extremely bright. 25 Lumens and the beam is focused very well.It has a momentary and click on tail switch and is an extremely well made light.  Best of all....$20. I used to carry an E2 and an E1. Now its the newer E1e and Microstream. I've carried the Microstream since March and only replaced the battery once and use it all the time.

Most days I carry a SureFire Aviator.  I like the soft LED for walking the dog.  When I need brighter light I depress the button a little more to get the bright, white incandescent beam.  When batteries fade the incandescent goes first leaving me with useable LED light.

For a small pocket light, this gets my vote. I picked one up at the last fun show and it's gone everywhere with me since then. I also carry a SF L4 that's 110 lumens. While it's a great light, it is sometimes to bright. The other evening a co workers 6p died- I gave him my microstream and he continued business as normal.

I have been considering a SF Backup or E1 for quite some time but I just couldn't bring myself to spend the money on it.

Flashlights are like Bebe's kids though

I have a Streamlight Scorpion and a TL2 that I carry. Both can be had for less than 50 bucks. The Scorpion has a rubberized body and a momentary/click tail cap. The TL2 has a momentary on tail cap/twist on constant, but has a pocket clip.

I did carry a Surefire L4 and loved it but I sold it and for less than 1/2 what I sold it for used bought a Fenix LOD and have had it on my key ring for over a year and have been very pleased.

It's smaller.  key ring vs holster
Has a high close to the L4.  Not quite as much light as the L4 but plenty.
Uses a single AAA vs 2 x 123
Has a high and low output.  Has several but I only ever use high or low.
Less than 1/2 the price.

The biggest plus is the size.  It is always in my pocket and any light you have on you is better than any light on your dresser.

I have been testing a O-light for about 2 months now it is holding up great. I work nights at the airport and need a bright light to reach the top of the tail of a 767, this O-light is 200 plus lumens runs on 2 cr123 batteries and last me over a month using it 5 nights a week. it is adjustable for light power and has a strobe feature. They do have smaller versions and 1 that uses AA bateries. I will have them at Creekside Saturday for the CCW class.

I would go with this:

It has a Cree LED and it is cheap.

I have a Surefire G2 that I've put one of the high discharge led bulbs in- maybe like $60 invested in it- I carry it whenever I'm in my ROTC uniform-

I have a 5 in 1 CAA mount that I've used it mounted on for a night shooting competition-

Its covered all of my necessary needs for a light and it did it on a budget (which is neccesary as a college student)

Tiablo A1     single AAA battery, basically 'disappears' in your pocket: Mine made my dad's 2-D cell maglight look sick & dim.  Simple (twist on/off), single mode flashlight.

Anything larger than a AAA battery format flashlight becomes annoying in my pocket.

I haven't tried out the Streamlight microstream, but it has a good reputation.  The Fenix lights are excellent . . . . except, I couldn't stand the flickering (PWM) and fiddley multiple modes of the Fenix L0D light; other than that, the Fenix lights are good, high quality lights.

The KD buckle light (http://www.kaidomain.com/ProductDetails.aspx?ProductId=1066) is another good, bright, single AAA battery light.
