does anyone locally sell the Colt Ar in 9mm? what's the going rate say verses a rock river. i'm down to one stripped Anvil Arms lower and i was going to do a 9mm kit on that one. just can't decide between J&T, M&A, Model1sales. i've used J&T for a long time now so i'll probably go with them

After the election, I have no idea what they'd be worth.

Doesnt Clyde's Armory carry Colt Ar-15s? I was thinking of picking up one with the lightweight barrel

RRA or Colt.

Not sure where you'd find a RRA on the shelf, you could probably order one online through AR15sales or adco or in Athens at the Firing Lane.

Colt's were in stock at Clyde Armory the other day.

The 9mm guns seem to be a bit tempermental.  Even colt has been having some issues lately, although they seem to have narrowed the problem down to a few guns.

-Colt - They are going to be the most reliable of the shelf gun.  Thier system is tried and tru and has been around since the 80's in mass-production.  The biggest downside to the colt is that they are only available with A1 uppers.  Several people have sitched over to a RRA flattop with good results.  Your best chance at finding one in-stock is going to be at either Specialized Armament, Knesek Guns or Clyde Armory.  The cheapest I saw a 6450 before the election was $1100.

-Rock River Arms - These guns are typically great and carry a lower price tag.  Your best bet on mags are still probably the converted uzi mags, which were cheap and plentiful before the election.  If you get one, it will likely be a good buy.  I have seen as low as $850.  I would call Tucker Gun as I know that he was a pretty large RRA dealer.

-Olympic Arms - Their quality control is hit and miss on almost everything they make.  They do offer a 9mm AR that accepts Glock mags and works very well, but there are not many of them around and very few come up for sale.  I would try and stay away from these for the most part.  They are like WASR AK's and Blackthorne AR's, some work great and other just plain don't work.

-Then there is your last option, build it yourself.  That is the route that I have chosen as I want to run an SBR.  There are several 9mm home builds that don't work, but I love to tinker on guns anway so if mine doen't run perfict, I'll have something to do.

The coice is yours and if I can be of any help to you in making your decision, don't hesitate to ask.

what are some barrel options for an sbr 9mm build?  I know about tros, but what are some others?

Thanks for all of the input guys. I'm leaning toward building my own at this point. It may take a bit more effort to get it running 100% but it'll be a fun project.

Now to find someone local that has a few DoubleStar lowers I can snag.....

There is (or was last time I checked) lots of Colt 10.5 barrel assemblies that are like new or lightly used floating around. These are mostly takeoffs/spares from Colt 9mm SMG's. You see them in the EE from time to time, as well at various online dealers.

I have one but 9mm and 5.56 are about the same price to reload these days.

You'd be better off getting a 22 upper.

If you're wanting to complete and shoot that 9mm build in fewer than 6 months, don't look to Model 1 Sales.  I emailed them about a LW 9mm upper half last week, and they said the following last Friday (the 7th):

we do not have any of the bolts in stock right now. it will be about another
6 months before we are able to get ahold of any

They do have the complete uppers in stock - just no bolts.

Almost everyone is out of bolts.  PK Firearms has RRA bolts for ~$170, and Spikes Tactical has some if you call them for $165 or so (I think) plus shipping.  Their lowest shipping rate is ~$12, however, so you may get out cheaper with PK.  Everywhere else I checked has them on backorder with only pie-in-the-sky dates on when they may get some in.

I am now 6+ weeks in on my backordered complete RRA 9mm upper half from ADCO.  Should be any day now, Steve tells me.

ADCO.  I have a 10.5" A3 9mm pistol upper backordered with them.  They have others as well.

Yeah, I was talking about Manufacturers...I assume the upper you ordered was made by RRA.

You said in another post that you are looking for 9mm bolts, will the one you ordered from adco not come with one?

It's an upper ADCO makes from mostly RRA parts.  I don't know if they cut the barrel down, or if they just swap upper receivers, or what.  I didn't ask.  Looking back over your list, I see you were indeed listing manufactuers or builders and not retailers.

I was looking for bolts because I was going to custom-build my 9mm pistol upper.  When I realized (A) no one had bolts except people who didn't have pistol barrels in stock, and (B) the ADCO upper is complete, cheaper than the parts, and exactly what I wanted, I just backordered it at ADCO and gave up on putting one together.

Good!!!  I just ordered a 10.5" A2 RRA upper from Adco that will be here tomorrow and I was afraid that it would not include the bolt.

Guess I need to check out adco.  Out of all the manufactures lucky13 listed I only saw maybe one that a 10.5 in barrel, and like dking said, I want a suppressed sbr.  Therfore, 5", 7" or 9" is what i'm looking for.

However, funds are extrememly low, so we shall see.....

I know some people don't seem to like them but my Bushmaster Carbon 15 9mm runs like a top. Feeds fine with the pro mag mags as well as the Beta C Mag I have. My pistol has the 7.25" barrel and has been surprisingly accurate.

If I had known how much fun the 9mm pistol was going to be I would have bought one a long time ago.

I 2nd the Carbon 15 9mm. Mine shoots like a champ and the barrell is around 7 inch.

I know funds are tight and what I am going to suggest isn't cheap, but I would really think about getting a BCM 9mm barrel.  Everything that they make seems to be top notch.  I think Denny's may still have them in-stock.

HERE

Doesn't say if it is in-stock or not.

I would love to get one of those Noveske 9mm barrels, but I think that they are long gone.
