A good read. Something that occurs to me is that while many of us long to be Jeremiah Johnson and make a new start, carving a life out of the wilderness, those days are gone.

In this nation, or really any other, the country will upright itself. It may take 50-200 years or so, but things will stabilize.

While many of us prepare for tragedy, we best also be prepared to be in good standing as it uprights itself.

Remember post y2K. How many saw folks dump the generators, BOV's, stored food, etc.?

I recall seeing a Pinzgauer 6x6 for sale for about 5 years after Y2K. Many donated their stored foods to charities. Point is, if you INVEST all your $$ in SHTF preps, when the SHTF passes, your good are worth little to nothing since people don't want to buy stuff that reminds them of the tragedy. Your investments need to have value in good or bad.

Printed and starting to read now.

I'm almost finished with Lights Out.  However, I think I will read this first as it won't take near as long to finish.  It came out to ~40 pages in word.  From the 1st page and glancing through the posts I can tell it looks good.

Thanks for posting!

Another key point I found interesting is that the S didn't HTF all at once. It was progressive degeneration. Small things noticed, like shortages of gas, higher grocery expense, signs of financial troubles in financial centers.

Much like we're seeing here.

Not that it's inevitable, but I'd bet he/they wished they recognized it early and had started preparing, and if some preps had already been made, that someof the small stuff that are niceties had been addressed.

I also find that the junk gold issue is something to consider.
