Saw this article and it has me worried I need a new self defense gun for the house. Something that works for all needs.
www.cnn.com/2008/WORLD/americas/03/26/gun.smuggling/index.html

Officer Cesar Quitana patrols a dangerous barrio in Juarez, Mexico. He is armed with an M16 assault rifle -- a weapon that would be no match in a gunfight with drug lords

What gun woulld be a match in a gun fight against a drug lord?

I would go with an M2 at the least if not a GAU-8.

When I'm in Juarez, I'm more concerned about the police than the criminals.  Wait a minute...how do you tell the difference?  The Police are criminals, and the criminals are criminals, does that mean the criminals are Police too?  What a seriously f'd up country.

I saw a similar thread in GD.  Perhaps Mexico should build a fence along the its border to stop illegal activities.  Doh!

yeah its ineffective because he prolly doesn't know how to shoot it. Whatever the 5.56 is perfectly fine, the only draw back would be a little less knockdown power than a 7.62. but you could always try a 6.8. The truth is, in that article they are talking about people being sniped with .50's and if that is the case it won't matter if you have a 700 nitro or a .22lr. If someone is going to sit and wait for you to walk out your front door there isn't a lot you can do about it.

So that's where all the krinks are going!  No wander I can't find one for a good price.  The drug lords are buying 'em all up.

Maybe now, mexico will put some funds towards a wall and help patrol the border as well!
