To whom it may concern,

Hello there my name is Adam Dyer and I am writing this letter to see what your suggestions are. I am an owner of a Henry model H001 and have enjoyed shooting it along with various other friends and family especially my dad. My father just recently turned 60 in February and as a gift the family purchased him a model H001. Unfortunately we were not able to purchase him a brand new rifle due to there not being one in stock at my favorite local FFL, so we decided to purchase him a slightly used one instead to be able to deliver him a gift on his birthday.

Here is the problem, today my father and I took it to a local outdoor range to shoot and found that the rifle's windage was off target and shooting to the left considerably. We used a drift to adjust the rear sight and it did seem to help but there simply not enough adjustment to bring the windage to a "zero". Now that the rear sight has been adjusted the sight ramp is no longer in the center "crown" of the barrel and simply falls out of the rear sight. Even with adjusting the rear sight as far left as we could the rifle still shoots to the left. After moving the rear sight we removed the front hood to see if there was a way to adjust the front sight, as you know there isnt.

I know this rifle was not purchased new but I was curious as if there might me an out of spec front sight/barrel band/magazine tube holder that could be causing this issue. Or if you have had any other owners with such issues. We greatly enjoy shooting your rifles, unfotunately this one isnt as much fun to shoot due to its severe lack of being able to zero the sights and use the iron sights. My father has made the suggestion that he would just put an optic on this rifle but I feel that it would detract from such a fun rifle in its simplest forms.

I look forward to hearing back on this little mishap.

Thank you for yor time,

Adam

Proud owner of a Henry H001

Thank you for owning a Henry and for buying the used one ofor your father. SHip the gun back to my attention and request a replacement with the H001T model (better sights for a 60 year old). There will be no charge. Happy Birthday to your father. All I ask is to pread the good word.

"MADE IN AMERICA AND PRICED RIGHT"

To me this is what customer service should be and I will continue to purchase Henry Repeating Arms Co. products in the future

***UPDATE***

Well, I just got a call from dad saying that he recieved his new rifle today from Henry and is chomping at the bit to go shoot it.  Mom says it looks like a BB gun and dad told her if she would close her eyes and let him shoot shorts in the backyard that she wouldnt know the difference.

Impressive.....

So many of the companies(firearms manufacturers) I do business with today won't even cover shipping back to them for warranty repairs in the 1st week of ownership.

Im going to be paying the shipping to them but I cant complain one bit .... as I clearly stated to them it was a USED rifle.  I felt as if HRA didnt need to do a thing really but I felt that it couldnt hurt to send them an email.  Shortly after recieving the email I called my dad and said "hey Im coming to get your Henry so I can send it back to them and they are going to replace it for free"

I understand exactly what you are talking about and I'm still impressed.

You purchased a used rifle and Henry is doing the right thing.

I'm talking about new guns that owners returned in less than 2 weeks. The profit margin on most new guns is razor thin before I incur shipping back the manufacturer.

Eg, I just returned a WASR-10 to Century Arms that a regular customer purchased.

He called me the day after the purchase and told me the rifle wouldn't chamber a round and he brought it in for us to look at and he was correct.

I contacted Century and told them about my customer's problem. They researched the SN and said they shipped it to my distributor the previous week and I sold it to my customer within a few weeks of it arriving at my shop. The gun had been out of Century's hands for less than 4 weeks.

They said they would repair it, but they would NOT cover shipping.

I did the right thing and covered shipping out of pocket. Granted it was only $20.00, but that's a huge percentage when the profit margin is less than $50.00 per rifle.

I could call out other manufactures, but I will not bother. I only used Century because it was the latest example of piss poor customer service in the gun industry.

When it's a simple issue my gunsmith can take care of we do it inhouse a our expense.

Todd you are a stand up guy. Lyman did the same to me. Made me ship back a lead melting pot that was worth $50 with $10 shipping. They had promised to reimburse my shipping and now refuse to after the fact.

I know CAI's QC is spotty at best but their return policies are even worse.

Had a very similar experience with Henry..  Bought a used rifle, shot it for a bit then suddenly stopped feeding.  Emailed the company, either same day or next day reply, sent a shipping receipt, mailed it and it was back within a week and a half, better than new.  The president of the company was the point of contact for us as well.  Outstanding company with outstanding products.  I love the Henry at the house, and it's even won a few 50yd turkey shoots!
