Today a buddy and I were supposed to go shooting but I was running late and couldnt get there before 3. He went at 2.15 and called me around 2.45 He went to Nicks guns (formerly EDS) and went shooting. Apparently they are cleaning their range.. DURING NORMAL BUSINESS HOURS!! He said their guys had masks and cleaning gear and were POURING smoke into the air, Apparently it was hard to breathe and he didnt stay very long. When I heard this I decided to cancel shooting.. But COME ON! WHO IN THEIR RIGHT MIND CLEANS A RANGE (THAT CONTAINS A HAZARDOUS SUBSTANCE) DURING NORMAL BUSINESS HOURS AND ALLOWS CUSTOMERS TO BE IN THERE WHILE THEY ARE IN THE PROCESS. He complained he was blowing black crap our of his nose for hours.. I mean serious WTF were they thinking. BTW- I am unhappy because I did not get to go shooting today.. ARGH! |

tell me about it. I went there today too. I took my new AR (7.62) build to test fire. they said they I was next in line since their rifle range had someone on it. I sat there and the rifle guy came out....and another person who jsut walked in went into the rifle range. I asked i the rifle range was open yet, he gave some lame excuse that he had called in reservations.... this happened one other time before I finally go in there. shot off about 30 roounds and was out going to pay in under 30 min. so I thought. it was actually 35, and of course I got charge for a full hour. argued about that for a little bit and so I said well let me go back in there and shoot for another few minutes. he said I couldn't becasue there was already someone else getting ready to go on the rifle range. so now I was pissed. either way I was going to just pay and go.....oh yea did I mention that even though the range fee is $7.??/ 1/2 hour apparently the rifle range was $15 per 1/2 hour!!!! of course that was posted NO WHERE!!!! I will never go back there again. what a load of crap. |
So they were charging two people for the use of the same range time? Well, in this day and age of the internet, word will travel fast about how they do business. |
| I quit going there when I was wanting to look at a pistol and asked someone about handling it, and he walked off to assist a customer that just walked up........totally ignored me, and I waited for 10 minutes for someone to assist me........I left, and havent went back, and shoot at Hot Shots on Austell now |

I agree about Ed's/Nick's. It seems like they have slipped back to their old ways. I went to their range this past weekend. It was beyond filthy. The "filtering" system was non-existent... (probably just a box fan to stir up the air). Also, what's with that owner (the one who looks like Fred Flintstone with glasses)...? The few times I have been there recently he is always intently watching some video on the cash register monitor. It's like you are interrupting his enjoyment when you ask to see a pistol. Parnell's Gun Shop is up the street from Ed's/Nick's and was always cleaner in the past. |

I pulled into my gun club Sunday morning around 9am, unlocked the gate then locked it behind me. I stopped a one of 13 unoccupied pistol/action bays (most are 20 yds wide x 40 yds deep, 1 is 40 yds wide x 55 yds. deep, 1 is 40 yds x 40 yds.). Shot for over 2 hours until I saw a couple more members. Ventilation was great, lighting courtesy of the sun. |

I grew up 3 miles from Ed's, and have probably been in there 100 times. I have never purchased anything due to the prices and attitude I always encountered. But I always gave them another chance each time I stepped in. No more. I have found many other kind, courteous, and knowledgeable shops to spend my money at. And Ed's range isnt just dirty, its hazardous to your health, and i am not kidding! |
LOL wow, i was thinking of giving eds/nicks another try since i heard about the new owner change and havent been there in over a year due to the service and treatment, but i guess i dont need to now.. my best friend barely fondles guns but when he does he always goes to eds/nicks (which i dont understand) and i bust his balls about him visiting his good friend russ (i think thats his name, tall big goofy looking guy) with their great customer service helping him out every way possible .I have and will continue to see the good guys at pannells, which im trying to be "regular status" over there but i still have to put in more "hang out hours" to get to that point. |
alot more actually
