Range Report

I finally made it out to the range with my new toy. It’s a 16” Del-ton kit mounted into an Essential Arms lower. It has a free float tube, Ace SOCOM adjustable stock, A2 upper, Iron Sights, GG& G sling thing, mamba Geronimo sling, and a three prong flash hider.

I assembled the lower myself and took it to my in-laws with a few 50gr JHP and some 62 gr. FMJ’s to try out. I followed a one shot clean pattern for ten shots cleaning each time with a bore guide and a .17 cal brush wrapped with a patch. I also used some Tetra goo every other shot to remove any copper fouling.

I used AR-Stoner 20 round curved magazines, Tapco 30 rd Teflon mags, and one black steel mag from AO. With 100 rounds not a single FTF or jam of any sort. I’m not used to a gun actually working until 200 rounds at least are run through it.

At 100 yards prone I managed some 1” groups, but nothing to write home about. I’ve never been a good rifle shot and there were no benches to use. (I’m willing to learn though!!)

I was amazed at the absence of recoil and how flat shooting the cartridge is, having never fired any .223 or AR rifles before.

Congratulations on the new blaster. It sounds like it came together well for you. Assembling a lower is a lot of fun aside from getting the occasional pin pivot detent stuck up your nose. Is that a heavy barrel kit or an M4 kit?

You suck...at the internet.

1. No pictures.

2. Did you invite us along? Some of us have cameras.

But seriously, good job and welcome to the asylum.

eta: I don't think I have cleaned my AR 1/5 that much.

I'm not posting pictures, ever. Just don't want them floating around. Sorry.

And no I'm not inviting you, Byte, to my in-laws place I brought a camera in case it did jam, but it wasn't necessary.

Other then that Thanks!

I did not have a single spring launch in the whole build. Assembled most of it in a pillow case just to be safe. Used a feeler gague to hold the detents in. Worked great!
