Quicken Willmaker is the software you'll need. Carefully read the instructions and the help tutorials. Some people say it only took them 10 minutes from start to finish. I'm a "read the manual" kind of guy, so I read all of the help topics and legal advice it gave. From start to finish it took me about an hour to an hour and a half. Once you've completed the "wizard" based setup of the Trust, print it out. Do not sign it. Take it to your local Notary Public and sign it in front of them. Have it notarized. At that point make a photocopy of the trust to send to the ATF. Bookhound will provide you with pre-filled forms with the name of your Trust in it once you have provided him with that information. When you get your package from Bookhound, add a copy of your trust, put in the $200 check, sign the Form 4 where he puts the Post-It notes, fill out the residency form, and send it in. If you're lucky, you'll get your can like I did in 18 days. Let me know if you want or need more info. |
SWEET! Just gave the wife the marching orders for her trip to walmart! Thanks man. If I get stuck do you mind if I give you a buzz? |

If she can't/didn't find it, you can download it off quicken.com. I'm working on our wills. Our oldest is 4 years old. I can't believe we haven't done this yet. I hope ya'll all have your wills done. My Dad died without one, and it was a PITA for my brother who was appointed the Executor. |
He sends you a Form 4 pre-filled with your Trust name, your name, the model of can, the serial number of can, etc. All you have to do is sign and date. The residency form he provides you with is pre-filled where you need to sign and date as well (at least he did for me). |
