Just in case anybody's interested, my dept is hiring. The city has big annexation plans and we're going to double the size of the dept in the next few years. Go to www.eastpointpolice.org and click on the "recruiting" button on the left side. There's a PDF application you can fill out online and print and mail it in.  We've got a pretty good dept and the pays among the best in the metro area.

That's good, glad to see a city/dept growing.  We have the same number of LEO's that we had in 1977.

I'm sure the cost of living in the East Point area takes a good chunk out of it.

There are very few of us that actually live in East Point. I don't.

Is East Point "ghetto-fabulous" or something? Not familiar with the ATL area.  I work in Macon, but commute 40mins from Milledgeville so that I don't have to live next to possible/future suspects and ignorant folks that re-elected a retard of a mayor.

Yes and no.  Years and Lbs ago I used to race at the Dick Lane Velodrome there. Pretty sketchy even back then getting too and from.  Once there it was ok.  Just kind of had to run the gauntlet in and out.

I heard a few years ago that gays were moving into East point and fixing up houses.

Funny thing is it seems to work real well at running off the hoodrats.

Yep they're moving in in droves. They are FABULOUS decorators.  It's actually pretty quiet now. There's a couple of zones that stay busy but overall it not too bad.

They're really looking for people to send to mandate school. I was told there's 8 openings for non-certified people. Last week they had 6 in to test and only 1 passed. The test is like 10th grade level.

Figured they'd want folks already POST-certified so that they can put officers with some type of experience out on the road quicker.  Hopefully you guys won't lower your hiring standards like they have at Macon Police.  I'm always hearing about the "high caliber" recruits they have obtained from there from officers I stay in touch with.  Thank God I'm not working there anymore.

I'm not a LEO, however, I can probably say that as a rookie, you'd have Tues and Thurs off and work 9 pm to 5 am
