Hi,

Greg Sullivan (Sully) of Defensive Edge and I are conducting a series of polls in the Tactics & Training Forum. The object of which is an attempt to gain a better understanding of why many firearms owners do not enroll in formal training courses. Please visit the Tactics & Training Forum to vote.

However, we ask those who are not at least 18 years of age to refrain from voting. The reason being is that 18 years of age is the minimum age whereby one can sign a *hold harmless, release and covenant not to sue* which is a requirement in most training courses.

You're participation is very much appreciated.

Thank you.

Hey! Thanks for making sure I didn't have to move more than necessary! Now if I can just get he mouse to click without actually having to do anything. Guess that expalins why I don't go for training.

Like anything else its all about resources and time. Buying all the gear and ammo and tuition for my first class was over $800. For a working stiff witha family its hard to justify that expense AND a weekend off.

Granted the second class was just ammo & class tuition but its still a weekend out. If any of you are married with littlun's at home taking a weekend off is a delicate manuever with many political implications.

I saw those polls, was curious as to what exactly you consider 'formal training'? Attending one of the well known schools(gunsite, frontsite, thunder ranch, blackwater etc.) or something as simple as taking a local class held by a 'respected' instructor?
