Hey my mother is thinking of getting her CCW.  She works for the goverenment and wants to know if it is ok to have a gun in her car in the parking lot where she works.

I doubt it. No personal weapons on property were allowed I worked for the Army. Then again, if no one knows about it....

Does she work for the US Postal Service?

They have a personnel policy/manual. Read through it. Most have boilerplate weapons clauses. Most .gov agencies usually own the building and parking lot so weapons clauses usually apply to cars and persons. If they are in a rental bldg. the terms may differ.

They may have a formal "policy" about it, but it is NOT against the law.  My Georgia CCW specifically states that you cannot carry in "publicly owned or operated buildings".  I don't think a parking lot qualifies.  My company has a "policy" about guns on company owned property including parking lots/parking decks.  That's why I park across the street.  I pay $20 more for parking a month than on the company lot, but some people at the office know I'm pro 2nd-amendment.  I don't want to give them the right to search my car and dismiss me from my job.
