went to the range today and one of the shells did not even fire.  It had an indentation in the primer from the firing pin, but no boom followed.  It was probably 1/2 way through the mag with Q3131a.  I set it to the side to make sure I didn't shoot it again even though one of the other guys said it should work if i tried it again, but I didn't care to find out if it would or if it would have went boom in my face.  any thoughts?

One of the guys that was out there shot some black hills 77 grain through my m4gery and had 6 shots through the same hole(<1/2" group at about 25 yards).  quite impressive at least to me.

Man I have GOT to move my targets closer...I had a .30-06 do the same thing. When I shake the round there is definitely zero power...

Thats the 2nd "misfire" ive had with Q3131.  The first was when bookhound decided to take the hammer ahold to it and now this one.  Of course 2 misfires in probably 800 rounds.  not too bad i guess.

I have had better results with wolf, no misfires through several thousand rounds. Most of them are threw my SAR-1 though.

I've shot thousands of Q3131A rounds in several ARs and have never had a single problem.  Guess I'm lucky.

I still think it was a bad lot.  because the store that I got the shells from had the same lot this time around as they did when I got my AR back in sept, thats my only guess.  I'm not sweating it though.  They dont sale very much .223 except to me.  Last time I went in I bought out all the q3131 that they had at $3.25 per 20.

Have you checked the firing pin protrusion yet?  This is a critical area and part of the required inspection of M16s by the military.

If interested, I can probably make up a go-nogo gauge for you.

I paid $2.99 a box for Q3131A  last week at Sports Athority.

If you want I can start posting when I find good deals at places.

I have not had any FTF with rifle ammo lately, last failuresfor me were 45 ammo, I also found 2 fialed Speer Golddot rounds at the range the other week.

not too bad....i was surprised just to be able to get it this cheap locally whenever i needed it rather than having to watch the price list and have to wait the big brown truck.  Too bad there arent any sports authorities in athens.  If i just so happen to drive up towards the ATL might swing by one.

Ok, but they dont have any ammo on sale this week.

That was last week, but I'll try to keep my eyes open and post deals.
