For those interested: Arrived at my Kill Devil Hills house yesterday. 1.5 blocks off beach, across from Wright memorial. First floor/basement took in 9" water. Dragged out carpets/furniture. Set up fans. Cleaning floor/lower walls with chlorox. Damage appears minimal. No wind damage to outside. No signs of any roof damage/leaks.

Any thing I'm missing?

If you had that much water inside just cleaning with bleach water won't cut it. The baseboard and sheetrock needs to be removed to a level well above the water line, insulation removed, studs and back of outside walls cleaned with bleach and then that area needs to be thoroughly dried. Then you replace the insulation, sheetrock, and baseboard.

If you try to short cut this you'll end up with mold inside the walls and then the REAL demo starts to get it under control.

Glad you didn't have any structural damage other than standing water.

To echo the above post, you gotta get all the moisture out from inside of the walls and from inside the wood inside of the walls. Only way is to pull the drywall to well above the water line. Water will wick up into the drywall thus the need to pull it.
