Hey everyone.
I am a little confused on the Upper law in NC. So am I reading it right that all uppers have to be 16 inches and that a 14.5 pinned to 16 doesn't count? Thanks for the help |

Thanks for the help Nothing wrong with having a pinned muzzle device to meet the 16" minimum. Although...I'd be interested to see what you were reading to cause you to think otherwise. |

Sorry I didn't see that last sentence.
I got the info based online NCDOJ. "That any rifle with a barrel less than 16 inches or overall of less than 26 inches." So I called this local gun shop/ pawn shop and that where I got told about the 14.5. Not a very reliable source hence the reason why I reached out here. |

I'd like to point out something very important concerning legal barrel length.
This is a FEDERAL law, not a state law. ALL states in the United States Of America are bound by the same laws. 16" is the minimum legal barrel length. A 14.5" barrel must have a muzzle device that brings the OAL (over all length) to 16". There are several devices that will work. The A2 FH will not bring OAL to 16". The A2X however will satisfy the ATF. For whatever reason, the ATF mandates that a muzzle device (FH) must be pinned and welded to be legal. There is a world of info on this topic on the Web. To add, (speaking of the AR 15) the law says that the barrel length is measured by dropping a dowel down the barrel to rest on the bolt face, measured from the bolt face to the end of the FH. |

No offense, but you may want to rethink that statement. Quoted:

This link explains everything you want to know:
North Carolina Gun Laws ... and seriously, the Federal Government does not have the right to regulate firearms. That BS "interstate commerce clause" does not mean what they say it means. North Carolina, though, has a carbon copy of the National Firearms Act of sorts in 14-288.8. That says 16" barrel, 26" overall. |
