| I live in North Carolina and they have strange laws on carrying weapons. I have a concealed carry permit but that only pertains to handguns. How do I legally carry my AR15 in my vehicle? Your help is really appreciated. |

I did some Googling, and I came to the conclusion; you have some squirrelly gun laws in your state. Now finding objective answers versus subjective ones online will depend on the website the information is on; so rely on state government websites for answers when it relates to weapons and firearms, or information sourced from state government websites. Make sure the information is also current. Here is something I found that will help in your quest, and hopefully your vehicle has a trunk. Now if you have a truck; it will be best to get a truck box for your bed to transport an AR-15 in order to be in compliance of your state laws, and will keep you out of any grey areas based on the information supplied in the link below. Which is from your Attorney Generals Office.

Have always carried my AR's loaded. As long as it is not concealed you are GTG. A lot of people still have & use rifle racks in the back window of their truck around here.
NC does not have any law about this requiring them to be in a trunk, case, locked, unloaded, nothing. |

there is no loaded weapon law in NC, just so it is not concealed and you are good to go. If you are in a single truck, behind the seat is fine, as you realistically do not have anywhere else to put it. In the double cab trucks behind the driver seat, in the floorboard, on the bench seat is 10-4. If you have a tool box in the back...well you get the point.
The main thing is do it safely, don't conceal it, tell us its there when we pull you and you'll be fine. If you are a thug, well expect trouble. |
